How the Scottish council elections work cartesiandaemon May 1 2012, 11:25:52 UTC
And apparently some form of electronic counting. By now I'm so twitchy whenever I see "electonic" anywhere near "voting" I hope it all goes smoothly (at least its counting, not just purely electronic voting).

Yeah, I wouldn't trust purely electronic voting, but properly supervised, validated counting seems safer.

Last time round was a shambles though, so I'll hold off on judgement until the weekend :->

The woman who brought the case against Stringfellows was on Radio 4 this morning, in fact. Interesting, smart individual!

I think she'd have to be at the least strong-willed to make it through a court case, particularly to win the first of its kind.

Any additional information come out in the interview?

Only in terms of how this ruling may affect other categories of workers who are classed as self-employed to save the de facto employer money. (It was on Woman's Hour, if you're interested: the first item. Should be on the Listen Again function.)

Who uses Pirate Bay anymore?

Kick Ass Torrents is faster and more reliable.

This is like if the Chinese wanted to block Friendster and keep Facebook up.

I've certainly found the TV listings on Kick Ass Torrents more reliable than on TPB.

That and http://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat give me everything I'd need :->

I sort of feel like Pirate Bay is the land of viruses and rick rolls, while KAT and Eztv.it seem to have found a way to filter out the bullshit and only have good torrents.

Even years ago, I always found isohunt and demonoid to be better torrent sites; and for Brit TV you can't beat thebox.bz.

And of course anyone who torrents regularly will just shrug and switch on TOR.

holy crap, those aeroplane landings are impressive. Pilots are incredible. (my brother was on a flight out of Santander last week and his plane got hit by lightning, which sounded equally terrifying)

It's terrifying - because I don't think those planes should be anywhere near the ground. But on the otherhand, I'm not convinced they should be in the air either...
