Good news about Ben. Kids tend to bounce back pretty quick and he's quite the fighter. I'll keep the lad in my thoughts and I hope things get better for you at work.

Great to hear about Ben, good to see that he's getting better.

Shit like people taking too many sick days happens all the time, man. Only thing to do is to soldier on.

I am Legend was pretty good, I thought. Will Smith did a great job of acting in it, I was surprised by his performance.

Aye. Still very annoying when I'm doing the work of 3/4 people, and some people aren't even doing their own work properly, ya know? :(

Oh yeah! I get sick of getting called up all time to bag. Then the manager was a total prick today by whining about he has to deal with all the stockers whining about changing my schedule similar to my mom's. He's a douche in general, but today really pissed me off. I'm gonna re-apply at Wal-Mart and see if I can work there in their grocery section. At least you don't have to bag or check when needed.

Aye man. That's why I'm not doing the day shift - I hate being called up to go onto checkouts and that sort of shit!

Good to hear about Ben. I think I may have had a slight chest infection the last few weeks. Didn't go to the doctor ( ... )

I think it's these Eastern/Continental Europeans, to be honest.

It gets too much when I'm having to do the work of 4/5 people because they can't be bothered to turn up. What's even worse is when they do, they're lazy and slow, and I still end up doing the lion's share of the work about the place.

I suppose the positive is it stands me in very good stead with Dunnes, as my managers have surely taken notice, and when a managerial post becomes available, I'm surely likely to make the short-list.

Being paid less is ftl :( Oh, and apparently the deduction was on my last pay slip. I just didn't read the entire thing - just the "Net Pay" section :D

How are you finding your job, anyway?

Oh, yeah, some of the immigrants can be a lazy lot. Although, that's not to say all of them are. I've seen a lot of hard working people from Eastern Europe... just seems a large proportion are happy with just coasting by (don't get me started on the Romanian gypsies who just sit by ATMs begging)... or those having a baby or two or six. I don't think they've heard Ireland amended it's constitution so that just because a baby is born here that doesn't make the child an Irish citizen, unless one of it's parents is Irish ( ... )

I agree, man. I'm, obviously, a migrant worker, but I like to think of myself as one who gets stuck in, pays all tax legally and intigrates with society. These Eastern Europeans tend to keep themselves to themselves and make no effort to join in, as it were. Annoys me, and I'm not even Irish! :D Haha.

That sounds cool. Sometimes Dunnes can be relaxed and easy-going on one of the lesser-busy nights, but usually it's not, because, as I say, most of the workers are slow and have no motivation and want to work as long as possible to get more money. I see their logic, but I don't want to finish work at 7:30/8AM every morning. I like the odd finish at 4/5AM so I can get some good sleep in before I get up and shit.

Hopefully, though, some position higher-up will become available and I'll put my name down for it. I have the blessing of my current boss, who said if I was committed, I could easily go into management within a year :D
