I've got ten books out the library at the moment, and today I got an email telling me that they are all one day over due - meaning I get fined £2 for one measly day! The library has no trouble sending you an email to say that your books are overdue, but do then send you an email the day before the deadline to remind you? Do they heck. That would ( Read more... )

It's no oversight. I queried this once while paying a fine and the girl at the desk confirmed, albeit in roundabout terms without actually saying so that this was the reason for doing it.

I got a 20p fine as well, fuckers! I'm sure I remember years ago that they did send an email with a day to go, but that seems to have stopped.

My housemate used to run a video screening for the English department at 9:15->11:15 every monday. Videos can only be rented for 24 hours, starting at 10:15. If you get a video out at 9:15 you have one hour to watch and return it, obviously impossible for an English class. She got one fine per week (which the English dept paid back)
