Delisted From Google?

At the beginning of last month I posted a message saying how traffic was increasing to my site, IndieGigs.co.uk, and that in February my Google Adsense money paid for half of my hosting costs. Something bad happened during March that meant that this did not continue, in fact my hits went down to around an 1/8th of the previous month's average. My ad impressions decreased from 8,134 to 3,756 (-53%), my ad clicks went down from 54 to 15 (-72%) and my earnt money went down from $10.14 for a month to $4.43 (-56%).

This decrease can pretty much be attributed to the fact that I disappeared from Google for some unknown reason. At one point during the month I only had one page of my site in the Google index. During the previous month it was around 10,000 pages. Quite why I disappeared I'm not sure, it may have something to do with the fact that my server was struggling under the load and would occasionally fall over. A couple of weeks ago I brought an extra 20MB of memory and this seems to have helped things a lot. I've also signed up for the Google Sitemaps program and this has help me get back up to 10 pages in the Google index - but the Googlebot hit my site 21208 times during March, so think I should have something more to show for it....

The other project that is hosted one the same server, my Last.fm Greasemonkey script, continues to improve. There are now around 6220 people using my script, causing 641587 hits on my server during March. That works out to about 20,000 hits a day. That's considerably more than the 500 hits IndieGigs.co.uk was getting.

Hopefully things will return to normal in April...
