Great reviews, and I agree with what you said for both episodes ( ... )

The sins of the father really have been visited on the son.

Yes, he can't ever escape from Uther's legacy and the whole thing was caused by his own birth.

Make the decision at the wrong moment, reveal the secret in the wrong way, and it's all lost, irretrievable and forever. No wonder Merlin holds back.

Exactly. The one thing I think he could have done was try to subtly show Arthur that magic can be used for good. I think Gaius was on the right lines in 4.07 when he told Arthur something like that. The trouble is that Merlin can't come up with that many examples apart from himself. Arthur's experience of magic users (that he knows about) is mostly bad and so is Merlin's.

What excellent reviews -especially for the most recent episode. Your reasoning why Merlin hasn't revealed his magic to Arthur seems to me spot on.

Alex Vlahos has been a revelation and I hope we see more of him after Merlin ends. Interesting snippet in the Radio Times the other week about Colin Morgan as an ideal candidate for Dr Who when Matt Smith decides to call it a day.Must admit I'd like to see that, just to see what Colin would do with the role.

I hope we see more of Alex too! And of course Colin, although I suspect he won't want to get caught up in the dizzying whirl that is DW.

Also, hello you! I meant to say hello when you commented the other day. It feels like I haven't seen you around for a while and I've missed you!
