I think the campy portrayal of the sorceress was redeemed for me at the end when Merlin used his disguise to make a plea for Arthur not to forget it was sorcery that helped him. As soon as Arthur gave his word I realised, hopefully, that that was a key moment for Arthur rarely goes back on it.

I spend every episode marvelling at Colin Morgan and am enjoying the scenes between Mordered and Merlin immensely -there should be more of them.

I will miss this so much *sigh*

I agree with you wholeheartedly, while this show has never really understood "continuity" things are really standing out now, but we tend to forgive.
I was worried we were going down a whole Priscilla queen of the desert route, and I'm sure it was written that way, but thanks to Colin and Alice Troughton, it settled down and was played straight. Now is not the time to be pulling a comedy episode!
I can't help but feel that that TPTB are a bunch of little boys sitting around the table thinking, lets put Merlin in a dress, that'll be funny, and then do this and do that, the fans will go crazy over it, like a group of teenage boys over cleo.
Anyway, the acting and directing pulled off what could have been an absolute train-wreck.
