I can't watch it again until Monday but I suspect I'll be the same. When I'm so caught up in the episode my reactions aren't necessarily the same as they are when it's all a little less intense.
YES, BE MY KING, I WILL FOLLOW YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH, ARTHUR.
Yup, that's me too. I've always been an Arthur fangirl but now I'm even more of one.
because everyone is quite prepared to believe Gwen could be led astray by her feelings.
I assumed it was because everybody knew that Gwen had had feelings for Lancelot and, given his surprise resurrection, weren't that surprised they'd re-emerged. That's why I didn't like the enchantment because I felt what happened was believable without it.
I don't have the same level of hate that lots of other people have
No, I don't either. I felt it was a flawed episode, but the good stuff was amazing and the acting was fantastic.
I think Colin's incredibly modest and generous a lot of the time - he maybe picked it because of other peoples' performances.
I think you're right about the talking up affecting expecations - that was certainly true for me. I think also, I was disappointed because I thought Lancelot would be coming back alive.
I'm starting to have some thinky thoughts about ghosts of relationships past which are interesting, but I'm still upset at the wasted opportunity.
Oh, and the final Merlin & Gwen scene was interesting - my interpretation was that she didn't want to talk to him, not the other way around, because she's torturing herself with (needless) guilt - which struck my feminist buttons again, unfortunately.
