The book is finished and sent and gone and whoot!

VALOR'S TRIAL - 114,643 words. Only a little late. Two months. Trust me, that's a little.

And now, the promised squee.

Most of you - who care - probably know the casting already.

Christina Cox is playing Vicki. You can find out the many, many shows she's been on by IMDBing her (and the internet provides another new verb) but for our purposes right now, the only thing that matters is that back in the 90's she played Angie on FX: THE SERIES. The beloved and I loved that show - we watched it, we taped it, and we said, "Christina Cox could totally play Vicki when she's a bit older!" No lie. We really said that. About every other episode. Enthusiastically.

And now she is. Too, too cool!

I saw her audition tapes and she totally nailed the part. She got the tough but more importantly, she got the vulnerable, and she got the FUNNY! Lines that are only funny because of delivery, lines other actresses missed by a mile, Christina nailed them. Bam! She was Vicki with every actor she read with. Didn't matter how off they were, she was on.

I am so lucky she was available for this part because she was born to play it! Well, okay, maybe not precisely born to play it but damn she's great in it.

Dylan Neal is playing Mike Celluci. You may know him as Pacey's older brother on DAWSON'S CREEK. I'm not ashamed to admit I knew him as Pacey's older brother on Dawson's Creek. Mostly because I really like Joshua Jackson and so any time I channel surfed by if he was on screen, I stopped. And Dylan had a lot of scenes with Joshua. Some quite intense scenes too.

Now, Celluci's is actually a tricky role to cast because he's essentially the straight man for Vicki and Henry. He doesn't have the big showy stuff they do so you want an actor who won't get buried or become just another tv cop. And he won't. He's got this wonderful sense of fun that bleeds through into what he does and his chemistry with Christina is palatable.

Also, he has great chemistry with the actor playing Henry.

Kyle Schmid was in SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELLING PANTS and he played Viggo's son in A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE. Neither of which I've seen. But I will. Probably. In his audition though? Whoa. Sexy and funny and playing beautiful off both Christina and Dylan. I'm so happy with this casting because they were also looking at a number of older actors because it isn't easy finding young and sexy who can play a believable 470 years old. (we couldn't afford Orlando Bloom) As a funny aside, in his reading with the three of them, he had the best tan. *g*

Coreen, from BLOOD PRICE, is now Vicki's assistant and is being played by Gina Holden who was in SUPERNATURAL's 2nd episode Wendigo. She's apparently having a lot of fun with the part and she's a hoot to write for since she's the one watching and commenting on the whole Vicki/Henry/Mike triangle.

The first episode is in post and they're roaring ahead on the second.

The director on the pilot and on episode six... Allan Kroeker. He directed Faith for SUPERNATURAL and Ariel for FIREFLY. Two of my must watch over and over and over episodes. I love the way he paces his stories! The executive producer told me he's never had anyone get so excited over a director before. *g*

I've handed in the second draft of STONE COLD, episode 109 and will be heading out to Vancouver while it's being filmed. (probably sometime in early November) There will be much more squeeing after that although its mostly a promo thing since the writing will have been done for months. Actually, there may be much more squeeing before that as sometime soon now they'll be in Toronto doing second unit work and I'll be there, behaving myself, and taking notes.

We have an IMDB listing, still under Blood Ties. The VP at CHUM really doesn't want to call it that (8 o'clock audience, you can see her point) but everyone else does so... who knows. No one's given me a new title yet.

Anyway. Squee!
