Ok, so a week or so ago I applied for a student credit card that was supposed to approve you regardless of your credit because the whole point was that it was supposed to help you build credit. Well, today I just received a notice that my application was denied due to my credit score. Is my credit really that bad? Goddamnit, and I really needed

Yeah I spent a chunk of the afternoon looking up my credit report and score. Does it hurt my credit score if random banks have checked my credit report without my consent or knowledge a bazillion times in order to send me "You're pre-approved etc" junkmail?

they don't check your credit score for that. No one can without your consent.
