I am a quite a random person who is addicted to con-going.I have just got back from my third Gatecon.Next year when I go (hopefully) I am taking a trip down to Vagas to where CSI is filmed.My freind did it this year and she said it was amazing so I SO have to go now lol.I have about 4 other con's this year and LOADS next year I fear for my bank balance lol

i would kill to go to Gatecon! but its a tad too far away. the furthest i've been for a con is London. that was last year, it was a Buffy convention if you're wondering. are you going to the Evening with Teryl Rothery thing in Glasgow in November? the Evening with Michael Shanks and Chris Judge thing in january was fantastic! =D
my bank balance can hardly take the Glasgow ones so i fear for your bank balance too! lol.
i'm hooked on Atlantis as well! i downloaded all the eps that were on in the US. the quality wasn't all that great tho so i can't wait to see them all on Sky One. i *heart* Joe Flanigan! Sheppard rules!
anyhow i'll be off to finish watching Independence Day.
Forgive me for gatecrashing your LJ. Earlier in the week we were discussing on voodoo_in_tx's journal about ripping the audio from the John Barrowman songs she posted. Voodoo has now posted mp3s, but they are only 128kbps and not the best quality and she says she is happy if anyone else wants to have a go.
I just wondered whether you might have a try with your software and see if you can rip them to a higher quality? If you're busy or not interested, don't worry, I'll see if I can find some software to do it. But as I'm a complete beginner I thought it was worth asking as you'll probably do it swifter as you know what you're doing!
Anyway, let me know. And many thanks in advance if you do have time to do it!

i just ripped them. they are of better quality than Voodoo's, i think. unfortunately, there's a couple of jumps i can't get rid of, re-recording doesn't seem to help. might just be the play back on my computer, it's a tad slow these days.
i tried uploading them to my site, but my ftp thingy crapped out on me after one song, grr. i don't have time to find somewhere to upload the rest to tonight cos i've got work in the morning.
I've downloaded the track and it certainly sounds a lot clearer than Voodoo's. Thanks! My Winamp tells me it is encoded at 160kbps which is a bit better than Voodoo's so that may account for it. And you seem to have got rid of the hiss. I don't suppose you could rip them at an even higher quality - maybe up to 320kbps? That makes a bigger file but would be better if burned to CD....
Otherwise the 160kbps tracks are a great improvement - thanks again!

ahem, back on topic... there's still a bit of a hiss in mine, i'll see if i can make it higher quality. the WireTap settings aren't exactly clear. it doesn't mention the 160kbps anywhere at all, i just went with the default settings. *shrugs* will see what i can do tomorrow.

i never watched Hornblower *hangs head in shame* i did, however, flick onto ITV3 right a Jamie Bamber bit once. hee! i giggle every time i hear his English accent. especially in BSG things, it's just funny when he's standing next to a Viper talking in a English accent, lol. were you at the SG9 convention in february? a whole day of the English accent *sigh* i spent most of the time he was on stage trying not to giggle about how cute he was =P *huggles Jamie*
