I particularly like tha CARP wish. Kahit specific siya. Kasi mali talaga na di nila nakukuha yung nararapat sa kanila. Sana nga Christmas gift sa kanila yung lupa nila. Wish wish wish! :)

Idealistically, CARP sounds like a good proposition. But in practical terms, it is a temporal (and somewhat ineffective) solution with quite a number of holes in it. For instance, the farmers could just get shares of stocks while the land ownership remains to the landlord. Moreover, reclassifying the land as commercial, industrial ones would exempt the land from redistribution. Besides this, the problem does not end with the acquisition of land because you also have to ask where could the farmers get the capital for their agricultural tools (fertilizers, seeds, etc.)? The current agricultural structure of the country only forces the farmers to be in further debts as they borrow capital which they could hardly pay back. Take note that the farmers also need a back-up source of income because the crops could also destroyed by natural factors such typhoon, pest, etc. It is not simply land ownership that the farmers need, but an effective system that would enable their development so that they could be self-sufficient.

I think kung meron akong shared wish with you, it's the last one. I know the Philippines can seem like a different planet now kasi di ako nakakasunod sa latest news, pero tama ka for wishing for initiative. I think yung mga tao, they have the capacity for altruism pero siguro hindi yun ang uso or kapos din sila.
