Only five. And try to make them interesting, because I already have all the Beatles, Stones, and Hendrix that I could ever want (although I can't in good ( Read more... )

Also in no order. I definitely agree that Dookie is a fantastic album, but I try not to repeat, so American Idiot will have to suffice.

Green Day - American Idiot
Nightwish - Once
Aerosmith - Get A Grip
Blues Traveler - Straight On Till Morning
Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien

hmmm....not my five favorite albums, but good ones, and ones I play a lot:

Best of Steve Miller 1974-9178
Moody Blues Greatest Hits
Come away with me - Norah Jones
Forrest Gump Soundtrack, both discs
Billy Joel - the Stranger

(Not sure if you like Alanis Morrissette...and I also vote for Hang on Little Tomato and Either/Or. Alas, Sam stole good ones)

Here's what I've been listening to recently, I can't be sure you've heard of them or not. I wouldn't call these my five favorites, but ones I think you might like.

Funeral - The Arcade Fire
Thickfreakness - The Black Keys
Love and Distance - The Helio Sequence
Picaresque - The Decemberists
The Soft Bulletin - The Flaming Lips

Adios

1. The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle [sic]
One of the greatest pop albums ever made. Rivaled only by Pet Sounds and Rubber Soul. The Zombies kicked unbelievable amounts of ass.

2. The Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady
Okay, so it's technically a singles comp. It was released during the 70s, after the Buzzcocks first three albums. Like lots of punk bands in the 70s, they didn't really make proper albums anyway. There isn't really a bad single on here. They rock as hard as the Ramones and the Clash at their best.

3. A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
Think you don't like hip-hop? Think again.

4. The Exploding Hearts - Guitar RomanticWhen Goodman told me I should book these guys for Prom my senior year, I instantly put them in the category "don't ever book for Prom." I'm still kicking myself. They made the first great pop-punk album of the century. Unfortunately, that will be it, as all the members of the ( ... )
