The sleep on HyunSung seemed to have done KwangMin a world of good, although YoungMin couldn't help being a little bit jealous. But he got over it, forced himself to get over it, because he really didn't care why, or who. As long as it happened and his twin started to get better. So for a while, things went easier, although KwangMin still wouldn't leave the building.

"Yes, you should go," JungMin said one morning, and YoungMin stared at him. "You look like death warmed over, and pale. Go help someone else, get your mind off this mess, and get out of here."

"I don't think that's a good idea," YoungMin said. "The soldiers are still looking for KwangMin. What if they think I'm him?"

JungMin smiled. "Stay clear of the soldiers. Stick with Minwoo. He knows where they usually are, and where to hide. You need to get out of here for a couple of hours." He leaned closer, eyes alight with humor. "Before DongHyun snaps and throws you off the roof."

"I wouldn't," DongHyun said without looking up from his breakfast. "I'd toss him off a third story balcony. He'd live through that."

Minwoo snickered and grabbed YoungMin's arm. "Come on, you're outvoted. Let's go."

YoungMin didn't have much of a choice; he followed Minwoo out the back door and on down the street.

It did him as much good as the others had said, which meant he went back to the apartment feeling much better. KwangMin smiled at him from the kitchen when he dropped off the food he'd brought in. "JungMin's teaching me to cook," KwangMin said at YoungMin's confused look.

"I figure he can't do any worse than I do," JungMin said with a cheerful smile.

YoungMin grinned at him. "We're grateful for everything you do," he said, and ducked back out of the kitchen.

"Feeling better?" HyunSung asked when YoungMin collapsed onto his bed.

"Yeah," YoungMin said ruefully. "A lot. Thanks."

"I'm glad to hear it," HyunSung said. "You're welcome. KwangMin seems to be doing better."

He sounded as cautiously optimistic as YoungMin felt. "He does," YoungMin said. "What did he tell you?"

HyunSung sighed. "A lot of things that really made me think. I mean, we knew what they were doing is wrong, but it might be even worse than we thought."

YoungMin stiffened. "Worse, how?"

"I don't know, but none of it can be good."

YoungMin sighed. "I'm not sure anything they do can be good," he said, and rubbed his eyes. "Is there anything we can do?"

"Just keep doing what you're doing," HyunSung said, and smiled. "You look tired."

"I forgot how exhausting Minwoo is," YoungMin said.

"We have time for a nap," HyunSung said. "Why don't you lay down?"

YoungMin nodded wearily. "Yeah, I think I will."

He slept almost immediately.

"It is worse," JungMin said, knees pulled up to his chest and his arms wrapped around them. "If what you say is true…"

"You know it is," HyunSung said. "He has no reason to lie to us."

JungMin sighed. "I really didn't want to believe it, that he'd actually stoop to that…." HyunSung didn't say anything. "I know, stupid hope," JungMin said. "I wanted… I had hoped, I guess, that something would make him come to his senses, but he's not. He's going to destroy the country, and anyone left when he's done won't be in any shape to do anything."

"Except you."

JungMin shook his head. "No," he said. "No one will allow me to do anything, not touch anything with any kind of power."

"Why not?"

JungMin just gave him a look, and HyunSung nodded. "Yeah, maybe," he said. "You just have to be careful."

"Yeah," JungMin said.

"I think it's done," KwangMin said from the doorway. "Want to check?"

"Yeah," JungMin said, and scooted off the bed.

"I'll get YoungMin up," HyunSung said, and went to do that.

DongHyun sank down at the table, and looked everyone over. "You look… well rested and well fed," he said.

KwangMin set a plate down in front of him. "Almost all of us," he said. "Eat."

DongHyun picked up his chopsticks, then noticed how nervous - a different nervous that he'd had before - KwangMin looked. "You made it?" he asked.

"Under JungMin's instruction," KwangMin said.

"Well, no one else looks dead, so I'm sure it's fine," DongHyun teased, and dug in. After a bite, he grinned at KwangMin and nodded. KwangMin relaxed.

"Did we find out anything else?" DongHyun asked when he'd finished.

"Nothing," Minwoo said. "But Mrs. Kim was glad to see YoungMin again. She was afraid he'd gotten taken by the soldiers."

"I think there's something really wrong going on," JungMin said after a while. "I mean, beyond the obvious."

DongHyun paused, half standing up to take his plate into the kitchen. YoungMin took it from his hand and took it for him. "Like, what?"

"They're using drugs to keep the kids they took under control," JungMin said. "Some of the worst, some of the most addictive."

KwangMin looked at him, but DongHyun barely noticed out of the corner of his eyes. "They're what?"

JungMin swallowed. "It's meant to keep them docile, and eventually will mean they'll be really bad off when they get out of the military. They'll still be expected to serve - in fact, I have some worries about business…." He trailed off and sighed. "Sorry. I think this place is going to be worse than most people seem to think. They don't realize just what this 'beloved leader' is doing to them, to their children, to our future."

DongHyun watched him for a moment. "What brought you to this conclusion?" he asked.

"Observation," JungMin said. "KwangMin, mostly. And YoungMin and Minwoo. Comparing them to each other. That's all."

DongHyun nodded. "There are a lot of reasons for the difference, but that one certainly makes sense," he said. "And if they have all the children on this…." He shook his head. "I don't even know what we can do."

"We can't do," HyunSung said, sounding as bitter as JungMin.. "We can't. There's no way to do anything."

"Not without getting thrown into it ourselves," Minwoo said.

"They'd kill you," KwangMin said, his eyes dark with a memory. "DongHyun, and HyunSung, and JungMin. You'd never survive. And the three of us would be back where I was, and." He stopped and swallowed. "They don't let siblings see each other. Ever."

Silence fell, deeper than DongHyun had expected. "Then we'll have to make sure they don't find us," he said after a moment.

"And if they do, I don't want to go back to that," KwangMin said flatly.

"You won't," YoungMin said, and Minwoo looked as serious as YoungMin did.

JungMin looked… like he wanted to cry, and turned away.

"We'll just have to be careful," DongHyun said quietly, brow furrowed. "That's all we can do."
