The sun felt way too bright for TaeWoon, although there wasn't anything really... horrible about the sunlight. He spent the afternoon in the shade of a tree, some distance from the school but not so far as to be out of sight. HyoYoung was in what he called the control room with Kibum (again), probably trying to track down someone she'd seen sometime recently.
He wished she would be able to sleep, or to block some of it out. HwaYoung said she was much more present when he was, but he couldn't be with her all the time. It just seemed so unfair that she'd never get a good night's sleep, never be able to live her own life. Never feel safe, never feel that people wouldn't hunt her down.
The back door of the school crashed open, the noise startling him. By the time he looked up, HwaYoung was in full run toward him, and he stood up as she got close enough for him to make out her expression. "What?" he asked when she crashed to a stop, leaning on him to catch her breath.
It took her a moment to actually say anything. "They got in and took HyoYoung."
TaeWoon grabbed her shoulders. "They who?" he demanded. "How?"
She shook her head. "I don't know. Director Shim-sshi told me, said Kim-sungsaengnim was looking for her. He said it would be better you knew now than later, and second hand. He wants to talk to you."
TaeWoon hesitated, torn between running now, and caring for HwaYoung. "Are you going to be okay?"
She nodded and let him go. "Yeah," she said. "Go. I'll be back when I can get there."
He hesitated a moment, and then let her go and took off at a run toward the school.
"We think she was fetched - dragged to someone from here," ChangMin said, and TaeWoon could feel the calm the director focused on him. He let it work for now. "Kibum is going to find her. It's just going to take time."
"And when you find her?"
"I'll let you know," ChangMin said. TaeWoon nodded, because he knew that's all he was going to get.
When the director released him, TaeWoon headed straight for the practice rooms and began to work again on the regimen he'd started... what, three years ago? About, yeah. Ways to work his own power to keep her safe, or to get her out of whatever someone had put her in. At this rate, maybe he'd better work on the rescuing part. He wasn't having any luck in protecting her.
Given the chance, he'd trade places with her in an instant.
