Disclaimer: Maggie and Tabitha are MINE. Please don’t take them. The dorm mates are just random names. All the idols from SM Entertainment are not mine, and none of this happened.
Summary: She needed to watch where she was going.
A/N: Written for when I was out of town 2 Sep.
Prompt table Maggie’s mind reeled with information overload. Too much foreign language, too much vocals (not to mention what the teacher had told her, which meant even more to think about), choreography both required and optional, it all made her cranky. Why was it so important that she know the word for snowflake? Would she ever actually use that? It was the middle of summer, although she had heard Christmas songs coming from the vocal studios, so maybe….
Her foot slipped out from under her, and Maggie fell. The notes she carried in her arms, from her Korean lesson that morning, from yesterday’s vocal lesson, vocabulary sheets, dance diagrams, books, and everything else slid down the hall, scattering. “Ouch,” she mumbled, and started to get up, wincing.
“Are you okay?”
Someone helped her up while more - girls this time, something of a surprise, considering she’d met almost all the guy groups, in bits and pieces - began to gather her papers and books. “Yes, I think so,” Maggie said, and then rolled her eyes and repeated in Korean, “Yes, thank you.”
“Take a step and find out,” one girl said in English, so Maggie did, careful in case her foot slipped out from under her again. She couldn’t even explain how that had happened. When she didn’t slip, she took a couple more steps, and sighed in relief. Nothing hurt. She bowed and said thank you as the girls - it was Girl’s Generation, she could call them girls, right? - gave her all her things back. She didn’t try to organize them, she’d do that later. Then, with a pat on her shoulder, they all streamed past her, and burst into laughter as they also slipped and slid and managed, by hanging onto each other, not to fall in the same place Maggie had. So it was the floor?
Now really late, Maggie set off again, slow at first and speeding up until she almost ran (and taking care not to run into anyone again). Dropping her armful with a thud, she turned to her roommates in frustration. “Okay, so who in SNSD speaks English?”
They all stared at her, and then MinHee sighed. “Who did you run into? And did you knock her down?” The other girls burst into laughter. Maggie just rolled her eyes.
