My good friend
dizzy_grace made me this icon, and she asked for a fic, and, specifically: "Taewoon and Sungmin from mutant!verse. Something about how Taewoon looks after him and helps him with his homework and such?"
So, here it is.
"This is stupid," SungMin protested, following Taewoon out of the school, across the porch, and onto the back lawn.
"Yeah, well, it's also necessary," Taewoon tossed over his shoulder. "You fail this class, and you're stuck. You realize that, right? It's not like failing it means you don't know something. It means you get yourself or someone else killed."
Sungmin jogged to catch up to his hyung, who looked much too angry for what the problem was. "I know that," he protested (again). "But why does it have to happen NOW?"
Taewoon sighed. "Did you listen at all in the assembly today?" he asked, dropping onto the park bench he'd been aiming for.
SungMin sat next to him. "I didn't go."
Taewoon stared at him, then smacked him on the back of the head. It knocked him off the bench, and only Taewoon's promise that he'd never use his own powers on any of his classmates kept SungMin from accusing him that he'd done so. "Why not?"
"It's a waste of time!" SungMin asserted, standing up again.
Taewoon took a deep breath and pulled him back down onto the bench. "Okay, let me sum up. The guy who came and talked went to school with Shim-sunsaengnim. He's a precog. You know what that is, right?"
Sungmin scowled. "I'm not an idiot."
"Nothing you've done so far today is any proof of that," Taewoon said, and smacked him again, lighter. "He said, in essence, that we have to be able to use our powers. Now. That the world is becoming so much worse now than when he was there - and he told a pretty hair-raising story of people getting in and taking Shim-sunsaengnim, and Yoochun-sshi and Ryeowook-sshi. Now think. What would they do with those three?"
SungMin rubbed the back of his head. "Shim-sunsaengnim can tell what talents people have - or that they have them. That's easy. Get mutants before we can. Um... Yoochun-sshi can go through walls, right? He'd make a really good thief. And..." He had to stop and think. "Ryeowook-sshi can control shadows." He nodded slowly. "Okay, I can see why they'd want mutants like that."
Taewoon nodded. "Yes. Now consider who we have here, now. As students. People that someone would like to take."
SungMin looked down, thinking. "Well... Noori-hyung. Because of his thing with people's memories. KyuJong-hyung, who can make the odds go any way he likes. HyoYoung-noona, with her seeing everything." Oh. That's why he's so upset, SungMin thought.
"Exactly. Can you imagine what someone could do with all three of them? Especially if they were to work together. No mutant - no one at all - would ever be safe. So. For the next hour or so, and for an hour every day, you and I are going to work on your power until Yesung-sshi is happier with you."
Good word choice. Yesung-sshi never seemed happy with anyone except Narsha-noona. But still.... Put like that, yeah, he did need to work harder. "Okay. Where do we start?"
Taewoon grinned at him, and SungMin sighed in relief. He really didn't like Taewoon-hyung mad at him.
