Keigo followed An. Even if he didn't know what the volunteer had said, he knew her well enough, and from the way she held herself, something disturbed her. He toyed with the idea that his presence had affected her, but dismissed it quickly as she talked to her student.

His phone rang; he nearly didn't answer it, but the caller ID flashed his father's name, so he flipped the phone open. "Hello?"

"Keigo, where are you?"

"I'm assessing whether or not to continue our sponsorship of the Junior Senbatsu," he said smoothly. "Hashiro-san agreed that I'd be in a unique position to evaluate it, as I have attended."

His father said nothing, and Keigo jerked his mind away from where An stood, watching the boy she'd been talking to walk toward the main lodge for lunch, and back to the conversation at hand as soon as his father started talking again. "How long will you be there?"

"At least two more days," he said easily, and started after her as she started toward the teacher's dorm. "It shouldn't take more than that."

"That's too long. The evaluation can wait until next year, if necessary, and we can do research on who else to support until then. You need to come here. The Fujiwara Goods contract grows closer to completion, and I want you there when it happens."

"I will come when I can. Good-bye." He hung up and tucked the phone away, not quite daring to turn it off.

He knew why his father wanted him there. The CEO of Fujiwara Goods had a daughter his age. They'd met, and while they didn't hate each other, they didn't exactly like each other. He didn't want to marry someone he felt only apathy for.

The smell of lunch wafted to him on the breeze as Keigo realized that An had nearly reached her destination, and he sped up. He had to talk to her, and soon. He had less time than he'd thought.
