Thank you, BSG

The heart of this show lies in it's characters and I was always a little afraid that they'd short-change them somehow, that they'd use them in opposition to who they were. They never did. Even if I sometimes wanted to smack their heads together or kick Baltar in the balls, the characters were never compromised and I have to applaud that, I must. It's a brilliant thing and I am so thrilled with that.

And that is the main reason that I am not angry with the ending of the series or Kara/Lee or Kara or Lee or anyone else. Kara and Lee were special, they were, in ways that were both daunting and tiny. One in a million people find something so profound that it haunts and elates them like their relationship did. From minute one there was both a draw and a wedge in the space between them and even when that wedge was nothing more than a ghost, they could hardly manage under the weight of whatever they were to one another. Lee was right - bright shiny futures are overrated, at least for them. Kara was broken, always had been. She could never have drifted off, peacefully into the sunset with Lee and he would have always wanted more from her than she could have given. I'm a huge shipper and I love these two in more ways than I can count, but they can't have that porch swing, never could have. They would have destroyed each other again and again, as we've already seen them do, but at least this way, at least with this ending, they are equals in as happy a place as these two can be. Let them go with their dignity, let them have that. They at least deserve that.

Speaking of going with dignity, Papadama, you kinda failed. Yeah, okay, you gave Roslin something very special and you completely deserve to settle in and do nothing for the rest of your days, but how is abandoning the most important people to you the way to do that? I mean, I knew you were in love with her and I knew you kind of sucked in the parenting department, but you're going to break up with Tigh, too? I guess when you've been leading humanity and weathering all their ills and horrors, you need a little break. Yeah, okay, we learned that from Tyrol too. It's hard being at the center of the salvation.

And to the Agathons, I salute you. Thank you show, for giving us a functional relationship that was strong enough to stand up and survive. And thank you show for making it the "interracial" one.

Thank you BSG for being there when I needed smart television and I wanted to actually think while watching tv. And thank you for bringing up the hard topics and doing them justice. Thank you for holding up a mirror to the world and making us stare at it. Thank you for giving us Jamie Bamber in a towel and Tahmoh Penikett in tight tank tops. Thank you for making me laugh and cry and for creating a new color of bleach on Tricia's head. Thank you for making Starbuck a woman and for making her unbelievably awesome. Thank you for Michael Hogan's eyeball and Tigh and Adama's bromance. Thank you for Mary McDonnell's cancer and her brilliance in this role. Thank you for Eddie Olmos and the Stand and Deliver jokes that were actually completely appropriate. Thank you for letting James Callis go crazy. Thank you for pushing the envelpoe and towing/toeing the line. Thank you for viper fights and explosions and completely unexpected deaths. Thank you for Lawyer/Politician Lee because as much as I missed Military Lee, I get it. Thank you for hope and faith and that crazy version of All Along the Watchtower. Thank you.

End of line.
