[Set in paradisa. Rose is banished_dame who is used with permission from her mun who made a request for future!fic with the prompt “adventures.”]

Paradisa was gorgeous when the sun came out.

After having April rained out for the second year in a row, it was nice to be able to head outside and see what was going on three feet in front of you. Add to the fact that the world was just lush and green and didn’t show any sign death or decay, and it was-beautiful. Completely artificial, and totally unbelievable, but beautiful nonetheless.

He was stretched out on his back on the picnic blanket that he and Rose had brought out earlier, one arm propped up slightly, and she was lying at a right angle to him, her head resting on his stomach as she talked. She had been telling him some about her adventures with the Doctor, and other things about her life back home. She had gotten up for a moment to toss a ball off in another direction for Growlithe, and as she settled back in again, she looked up at him with a grin.

“Now where was I?”

“New New York,” he said with a smirk. “And the apple grass.”

“Right,” she said, her grin brightening even more as she settled in and got comfortable. “The apple grass. That was just brilliant, that was.”

“So New New York, in the year five billion twenty-three. With cat people, and a consciousness in a huge stretch of skin.” He couldn’t keep the skepticism out of his tone, and she gave him a bit of a look, shifting so that she was leaning above him. “Am I getting it right?” he smirked.

“Are you mocking me, Detective?” she asked, shifting so that she was leaning in closer to him. Flack put on his best innocent face, before shaking his head.

“Mocking you? Never. I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Then she was giving him that look. The look where she knew he was being facetious or an idiot, and she wasn’t amused. “You’ve been living here for what? Over a year and a half now, yeah? And you don’t think it’s possible to have a world with apple grass and cat people?”

“No, that’s not what I have a hard time believing.” He shrugged a bit as she settled against him some more, her fact watching his carefully. “I like my science fiction as much as the next guy.”

“So what is it, then?” she said softly. “What don’t you believe?”

“You were what? Nineteen? And this guy in a blue box just showed up and asked you to travel with him and you just bought it? Took his hand and trusted him to do as he said and take you to all these places?”

“Well, he saved my life first, but yeah. I did.” She shrugged slightly. “You met him. Well, one of him, at least. You’re sayin’ that you wouldn’t have gone, too.”

Flack paused for a moment, taking a breath as he considered that question for a moment. “I don’t know. I don’t think I would.”

“Are you telling me, Detective, that you would run head first into a gun fight in order to get your man, but you wouldn’t trust a man in a blue box to show you the universe?”

Flack shrugged, before moving a hand up to brush against the side of her face lightly. “Guess that’s just how we’re different.”

“Yeah,” she said with a nod. “I guess so.” She was quiet for a moment, before she shifted so that she was relaxing against him again, her head against his stomach. “You keep distracting me. Now where was I?”

“Apple grass,” he said with a smirk as he settled back down again.

“Right! Apple grass. Now of course, no where the Doctor goes can just be a simple trip-”
