I read somewhere that imitation is the best compliment. I hope that's common knowledge, because I decided to make a button bouquet suspiciously similar to those I saw on Offbeat Bride by princesslasertron. I usually like to support the original creator and purchase from the artist whose work I like, but I can't spend $250 on something that will ( Read more... )

You don't have to feel ashamed for wanting something that's slightly traditional. A button bouquet is still going to be very much you and not at all mass market wedding industry. ;)

I saw your wedding on the off-beat bride site. Everything looked lovely!!! I love your approach to your wedding as I am currently planning my own wedding with the same strategy--if it will be useless the day after...then it's getting nixed. I waitressed at a banquet hall during undergrad and it was a true sin to see the numbers of 1x1 picture frames that would get thrown out (and other favors, etc.) wedding after wedding. I too am actually going to attempt to create my own non-floral bouquet and will be "borrowing" the idea from the same etsy one you saw. Any tips you could pass along? Thanks so much! Thanks! I don't really have any useful advice except to allow yourself plenty of time. The bouquet took twice as long as to make I thought it would. Also, be sure to take breaks and not wear yourself out. I tend to be overly critical of myself and my work, but I learned to be happy with the minor imperfections that give handmade items their charm. =) Have fun!
