Still a lovely looking bento! Do you cook your gyoza from frozen? I love ramen noodles I havent had any in ages - I need to go oriental food shopping. (Hubbie laughs that I have 2 types of food shopping, doesnt complain when he gets to eat yummy oriental food like Char Sui)

what is the difference between gyoza and pot stickers? we have gyoza at work (japanese restaurant) and they're filled with pork and vegetables... i'm pretty sure they look exactly like a pot sticker. are they folded differently or something?

I'm not really sure what the difference is. I think it's the stuff they wrap it with. Or maybe the stuff that's put into it. Also, I think pot stickers are chinese and gyoza is japanese. This is all speculation of course.

technically, pot stickers are only when you fry them, hence "pot stickers" because of their crispy bottoms. so really, you could make pot stickers from either japanese or chinese dumplings, but it's from chinese cuisine.

(the pinyin for chinese dumplings is 'jiaozi' - not much different from gyoza. i actually used to think gyoza was a misspelling of the pinyin, which happens a lot.)
