Happy August (BB, SPN & Pros)

Seeing as we're into week three, I thought it might behoove me to actually post something.

I've been around, mostly commenting on other people's journals.  I really haven't had much to say on mine.  Here's the down and dirty update:

-  Still no new kitty.  I was supposed to wait anywhere from two to four weeks (depending upon who you talked to) before bringing a new baby into my potentially fe-leuk infested home.  It was three weeks on Sunday.

-  I'm working on art for two of the Pros BBs, a humbling experience that has proven to me, yet again, I am not an artist.  You know it's bad when you send a fic cover off to an author with a note saying, "Please remember--I don't know what I'm doing."  ::sigh::

-  As a side note, with my role of artist for two fics and beta for two others, I've had the opportunity to sample some wonderful stories.  Hang on to your hats, Pros fans.  This is going to be a really nice BB.

-  I want to write SPN, but haven't had the chance to do anything in a month (since Redemption went live).  I need to write my timestamps before people forget all about the original fic, and I have some other ideas (which I'll mention in a moment).  But I know I'll be doing my art right up till the fics go live.

-  Why, you ask?  It's not just because I'm working on two stories.  It's because I do something, send it off to the author, then say, "No wait!  I changed my mind.  That sucked!  Would you mind if I did it again?"  Seriously.  I worry about me.

-  As for SPN writing--I already have two ideas for next year's BB.  Is that weird?  I thought I only had one.  But now another has popped into my mind that I also kind of like.  They're both J2AU, but couldn't be more different.  Here's what I'm thinking about...

-  The first story features Jensen as a cop and Jared as a professor of parapsychology.  A year earlier they'd banded together to stop a serial killer.  Jared doesn't only study the paranormal; he has those powers.  He gets precognitive dreams and can glean information from an object or location.  During the investigation, Jared, who is openly gay, had been in a relationship.  Jensen, who is closeted, had been married.  Now, their circumstances have changed, so when they're brought back together, both men are free to pursue the attraction both had initially felt for the other.  The only problem is Jared is having dreams about someone trying to kill Jensen, someone who reminds them both of the murderer they'd thought they'd laid to rest.

-  The other fic involves a trope similar to what was found in Redemption, yet hopefully different enough not to make people roll their eyes.  I love stories featuring the guys thrust into a position where they have to get along, particularly if initially there's a mutual dislike or distrust.  The setting for this fic is the American wild west, 19th century.  Jared is a homesteader in search of a wife.  Jensen is a spoiled, wealthy playboy, living openly (if discreetly) gay in St. Louis, who is a sucker for stories of cowboys and Indians.  After losing a bet, he answers an ad, looking for a mail order bride.  The plan is for Jensen to make the journey west, present himself to what Jensen and his friends think is some poor schmoe who can't get a woman any other way, have a little fun at that person's expense, then head on back to civilization.  Only with Jared being the one who'd placed the ad, things don't quite work out that way.  Add in some personal angst and two characters who are more than they appear to be at first glance, and I think this could be fun.  I'll confess--I like the idea of Sam Ferris owning the town's saloon.

-  I don't know which to write.  How scary is it I keep thinking this should probably get underway in the fall?
