Redemption and Other Fic Related Babble

Mar 09, 2012 11:18

I've been in fandom since 1995.  I started out in XF, writing under a different name.  I gained a bit of a following as an author of MSR--Mulder/Scully Romance to the uninitiated.  I used to describe my fics as Harlequin romances, starring Mulder and Scully.

An over-simplication, perhaps.  But close enough.

OMG, I love Redemption!

And this is so exciting. Keep us posted, cos you know you already have a following ♥

Also, I'm with you on the J2AU. I don't want to read stories based on the show -- maybe because it's still running. I usually read and write fic when something's finished *g*

You're so sweet! Thank you. I don't know how this will go. I know the e-publishing biz is no doubt even harder to crack than fandom. But I've spent the last week, checking out the stories being published and I'll tell you--the vast majority of them don't touch some of the fic I've read over the years. I don't think I'll be embarrassed by how my story stacks up. But I guess we'll see.

And yeah...J2AU. That's my happy place as a reader. :-) The guys make great heroes, no matter where or what the setting.

Woot! Redemption is the perfect fic to crack into that market. \o/

Wheee... how exciting. Let's know how it progresses.

Good luck!! :DD

(I will def take the PDF. :DD)

ETA: And er... WHAT THE HELL!??! How did I miss that you'd posted a fic recently. THAT IS JUST NOT RIGHT! (Or I noticed, mentally noted to read it and then got distracted...dammit!)

(But...um..yay!...for new fic to read. I'm so glad you linked it hun.).

Hee! Thanks, babe. It's a little bit of an adventure, I think. If nothing else, I'll learn some new stuff. :-) This friend of mine has been talking about it pretty much nonstop. So I'll admit, I'm curious.

First of all, I read Imperative, and I loved it. I even recced it. I just neglected to tell you so at the time, and for that I'm sorry.

I too love reading J2 fic. I love your writing, and I hope you will continue writing your fic for the fandom even after you get started in the e-book world. Good luck with that, too!

I haven't read Redemption yet, but I'll do so. One thing, though...I tried to right click and save the pdf, and it only offered to save the page, and not the file. Any ideas why this is? I want to be able to save the pdf to read later before you take it offline.

Oh, no worries, sweetie! I'm glad you read the story and liked it. Please don't think I posted this to complain. I was just trying to explain my head space.

For the PDF, go ahead and do a regular click on the link. It'll take you to Sendspace where the true link is. I uploaded the file with them.

I hope you like it!

Oh congratulations. I utterly adored Redemption. One of my first fanfic reads. I'll have to make another copy just to be sure (thanks for the heads up). And sounds like a great technique to build an audience. There are several interesting success stories like that, the first book free, or keeping costs very low and making up for it in column (in the case of a detective series, not so sure that would work for M/M writing, but I don't know the volumes involved).

Good for you though!!! I hate to see a J2 fic go down, that will always be my favourite read, but I wouldn't want to hold anyone back especially after offering their work for free so generously.

Will you keep writing fanfic? Or are we losing you to the big wide world? I can only take so many hits at once
O.o

Thanks for the support, hon! I definitely plan to continue on in fandom. I love the guys. There's no way I could quit them.

Or their fans. :-)
