I love BSG. I still love BSG. All the warts, all the slips. So what. The last three weeks, with the debut of season three, have reiterated what I've known for years: this is the best TV show out there. Abso-frakking-lutely amazing stuff tonight.

more spoilery reaction, albeit in brief )

Thank you for sharing the link to that story, it was lovely. I don't usually blow my own horn, but there was a little piece that came out of my viewing of the same episode, which I've posted over at my writing journal, shadow_truths, if you're interested :)

Oh yes, and I meant to say, about the 3rd season: what I think I'm most impressed with so far is the way they've effectively "re-set" the show in four episodes (four very good episodes!), getting all the characters back on the same ship (even getting rid of Pegasus), but shaking up all the relationships so dramatically. At the end of season 2, I confess to being a little worried that it would take them a long time to get back to the "folks on a ship looking for Earth" dynamic. But I'm happy to have been proven wrong :)

I'll check out your short story, then! Things are backing up as I get ready for a trip, so I'm bookmarking like crazy!

I agree with you that they've made the challenges fresh and urgent all over again. It's good TV!

Lots! It started with Anders reiterating to Saul all the ways his wife had betrayed the Resistance and wondering what else she'd passed on in her collaboration with the Cylons, reminding Saul that if he didn't do it, someone else would. Meanwhile, Ellen sat at the back of the room, presumably out of earshot. Tigh dismisses Anders angrily, saying he knows. Then he goes back to sit with Ellen, holding a blue tin cup in his hand while she pours out the story of all she did for him. Everything. She tells him how she targeted the Cylon in charge of Detention and made him notice her the way men always noticed her, gave herself to him, all for Saul. That everything she did, she did for him. After pouring the whole story out, she asked for the drink, saying she was thirsty. She drained it down, chatted a little more, noting she was very sleepy. Saul holds her as she droops into his embrace, saying she can sleep right here. She chats a bit more as she fades out. He drops his face into her neck and brokenly insists that he loves her, crying as ( ... )
