New teevees?

Oct 02, 2006 22:49

So, I hear tell there's a new teevee season going on. And keep in mind that the only teevees that I have watched in the past year or two are BSG, Rome and a fair bit of CNTM. Also keeping in mind that I am probably only going to have time for, at most, one more show beside BSG in the next few months, what else should I consider putting on my TV ( Read more... )

I really have to figure out when and where "The Wire" airs here. It's frustrating that HBO doesn't translate over automatically to our premium services.

And I'm intrigued by the idea of "Heroes" -- I just wish I could figure out when all these shows were airing.

Lovely icon, there. Is that another of realtanala's red set?

Um, well, I have been so non-television for four+ years now that the only show I ever deliberately watch is The Red Green Show, which is actually Canadian and I'm astounded that it plays on my local PBS station. But if you're looking for something to be a potential fandom, then that isn't it. *g*

We know Red Green very well up here. Are you aware of the "History Bites" show produced by Rick Green (who also works on Red Green)? Most hysterical and amazingly fun history show ever produced: http://www.historybites.com/

No, I hadn't heard of that show! It looks very funny... sadly I doubt I'll see it any time soon since we get the most minimal cable (basically for internet) and I don't think we have the channels that show it. *sighs* One of these days. Or maybe I'll see if I can ILL some of them.

History Bites is entirely worthwhile! I would really like to see them release entire seasons to DVDs -- I'd snap them up in a flash because they'd be perfect for using snippets in various classes (I love when they use the X-Files to talk about Calvinist Geneva or have Charlemagne as the Terminator).

But "Deadwood" will be available on DVD with the possibility of a follow-up movie, no?

I watched "Heroes" again tonight and I am still intrigued by this show. I think it might be worth watching. If you are at all into Sci-Fi, people with super powers(which I think you are) and the on-going story type of televison, you might like it. I'm not sure what they call that on-going story type of show....like Lost and Jericho. Jericho! I think I missed the last ep. Arg.

Anyway, "Heroes" seems to have some interesting characters and the unexpected happens, which I like. There is even a character with dark hair and blue eyes, who can fly. Cool! :)

Oh, you are seriously tempting me!

Yes, I have a superhero addiction. Sad, isn't it?

I'm right there with you. We can be sad together. Actually, we'll probably be pretty happy. :)

House. Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard, what's not to love?
Monday night on our channel 3. Don't know what channel that is for you. 8pm.

Hugh Laurie is lots of fun -- I will see if I can manage this or not, though I always find watching Laurie play an American accent to be disconcerting. Too many "Blackadder" episodes, I suspect!
