Thank you! Merry really is a dear in this. And Sam... well, Sam still has a ways to go yet. But he'll come around before the end. :)

Sorry I haven't commented in the previous chapter, although I have read it. You're such a good writer, it's just that these are hard to read. Merry is such a needed presence here and so practical. Sam knows too in his heart of hearts but I think it's hard for him to hear anyone voice what he already knows.

Big sigh...

Don't worry about it! I'm glad you're reading. :) I knew while I was writing this that it would be hard for most people to read, so that's not at all a surprise. (It was hard to write, in some spots, to be honest.)

Merry is definitely a needed presence. I think you're right about Sam, the poor dear.

I just loved the interactions between Merry and Frodo - he really was able to provide such love and comfort to Frodo and seems like the only one that Frodo has been able to talk to honestly about what's happening. I wish he could have been more persuasive to Sam - Sam's denial is so hard for both Sam and Frodo. I'm glad the healer from Buckland is going to send some things to help ease Frodo's pain.

Another wonderful chapter - it sounds so contradictory to say I'm enjoying a story with such a sad topic - but I AM. So well written and the characters ring so true. And Frodo does have so many who love him and are trying to comfort him.

Yes, Merry is definitely a comfort to Frodo, and a much-needed listening ear. Nobody can convince Sam of something he doesn't want to believe, though. ;)

Aw, thank you so much!! :)
