Kevin sometimes had the tendency of looking in that certain way at Eli.

He would gaze at him like he was the only person in the world -and occasionally Eli would even feel that way, but that’s something he could never admit to himself or anybody else- and gave him impish goose bumps that traveled all across his body. During practices their eyes always met in the mirror and, although neither of them ever certified this out loud, it was like an unspoken flirt each time. Breakfast was always the moment of the day Eli loved the most, because Kevin would sit by his side repeatedly, just to awkwardly bump their elbows together, or to share jokes with him that the others couldn’t hear.

Or maybe Eli was being paranoid. There were also instants in which he really thought Kevin didn’t really give a crap about him, since he would sometimes walk right past him and not mutter a word. He would also avoid saying ‘Good morning’ whenever he came out of his room -even if he always greeted everybody else- and not even bother looking him in the eye. His mood always fluctuated drastically, from being bubbly and affectionate to grumpy and sullen. Kiseop always said it was because he felt homesick and needed to spend time alone and advised Eli to just let him be.

This also beckoned a brainless feeling of not belonging. Intentionally avoiding Kevin made Eli turn edgy and all he wanted to do is to just go inside his room and stay with him. After all, wouldn’t he be the only one capable of understanding him better than everybody else?

So after knocking and hearing a fainted ‘Yeah?’ he entered without thinking and sat on the edge of the bed, where Kevin was playing on his phone.

‘This is your idea of entertainment?’ Eli asked skeptically, raising an eyebrow at the uncanny sounds produced by a leveling-up.

‘If you came to criticize me, beat it. I’m not in the mood.’ He responded bluntly, staring back at the small screen.

‘I didn’t come to criticize you. So what’s wrong?’

‘Nothing’s wrong.’

‘Kevin.’

‘I said nothing’s wrong.’

Eli was very much familiar with this other side of him. A side which Kevin always made sure to conceal in front of the members, the staff, the cameras and even his family. At first Eli got offended that he was the only person treated that way and even dared to think -silly Eli- it was because the younger didn’t really fancy him. That was, of course, until the night when they both found themselves -Eli was sure it hadn’t been a coincidence- alone in the practice room, after the others had already left. It was then when Kevin confessed to him -how did the topic came about, anyway?- that he trusted him the most and hugged him so tight he almost squished the air out of Eli. And from that point on the older promised himself to never doubt Kevin’s intentions again.

‘Nothing’s wrong my ass.’ Eli replied after looking at him for a brief second and noticing how tired he actually was.

‘If you don’t believe me just go. Like I said, the last thing I need tight right now is you criticizing me.’

Of course Kevin hated being criticized because he was such a perfectionist. He also hated being told he was weak, delicate, incapable, powerless, feminine. Eli knew that more than anybody else because even though he always smiled in front of the cameras whenever someone accredited this out loud, he would strain himself in the gym for hours after that, until he was on the verge of collapsing. And then, arriving back at the dorm tired and drained of life, all he wanted to do is to go into Eli’s room and sleep with him in his bed, since the older always assured him that he was overworking himself and he needed to take it easier. Kevin loved hearing that and he would fall asleep bundled up in Eli’s chest.

‘I’m not going anywhere. Scoot over.’

‘Why?’

‘Just do it.’

And Kevin obliged, making room for Eli to fit under the sheets, until the younger was comfortable enough to lean his head on his shoulder. Kevin never apologized to him for anything, but always made sure to show his offering of remorse through gestures. And that was always better than actually verbalizing a lame ‘Sorry’ in Eli’s opinion, because it meant being close, warm, intimate. He was also sure that he shouldn’t want so much of Kevin perpetually, but at the same time he could never refuse such displays of tenderness.

‘Why are you always like this?’ Kevin asked after a while.

‘Like what?’

‘Like nice. I sometimes treat you like crap but you’re never mad at me. And you permanently come back to comfort me, even when I don’t want you around.’

Eli looked down at him for a second, before getting up, ready to walk out of the room. Kevin grabbed him by the wrist, confused.

‘Where are you going?’

‘You said you don’t want me around.’ Eli answered, without any signs of anger or disappointment.

‘Not now, stupid. Now I do. Now I need you here with me.’

Eli sat back on the bed, this time yoga-style, facing him.

‘Then what’s with the mood swings?’

‘Like it’s not already obvious enough.’ Kevin sighed exasperatedly, looking at the ceiling.

‘You know I’m slow.’

The younger laughed, turning to contemplate his face.

‘Come on Eli, don’t make me say it. You may be slow, but we both know you’re not stupid. And if you can’t figure it out on your own, I sure as hell am not going to say anything.’ He looked down to his hands and started playing with his fingers.

‘I think I have a hint, but I’m afraid of being wrong.’

‘Why?’

‘Because I don’t know how I feel.’

They looked at each other for the next couple of seconds, with indescribable expressions on their faces. It wasn’t a coarse atmosphere, just slightly tense.

‘Can I…’ Kevin began. Eli looked at him wide-eyed.

‘Fuck.’ The younger dispersed the distance between them and kissed him, while at the same time grabbing him by the nape, in order to make sure he wouldn’t escape. Eli was completely taken by surprise but didn’t resist, instead he cupped his cheek with his hand. Kevin tasted sweet and mushy, like pancakes. Surprisingly, he was a very good kisser.

They lay down on the bed with Kevin above, there were hands exploring every inch of skin, wet kisses on the side of the neck, moaning for more, shaky and hot breaths, fast and dominating movements, creaking of the metal arches underneath. There were shirts being taken off and jeans unzipped, fingers caressing Eli’s abdomen and painful but so very erotic scratches on Kevin’s back, until they both found themselves completely naked, wanting to feel each other more than anything else.

And with Kevin’s begging eyes in which Eli could clearly read ‘Make love to me’ he didn’t think twice, didn’t think they were best friends and members of the same band, didn’t think they were both males and it was dangerous. He flipped Kevin over and entered him slowly, to make sure he wasn’t hurting. He asked him how it felt, at which Kevin turned his head to his left, staring at the wall.

‘Don’t ask me that.’ He replied. ‘It’s embarrassing.’

‘I want to know.’

The younger looked up, grabbed him by the hair and pulled him in for a short kiss.

‘It hurts, but it feels amazing.’ He eventually said, with his cheeks visibly blushing. ‘I want more.’

And just when Eli thought he couldn’t possibly become any harder he did, encircled by how tight and blazing Kevin felt. He grabbed his erection with his free hand, while he was holding him by the waist with the other one, and started moving it back and forth. Kevin immediately sunk into the mattress and arched his back, whispering how good it felt and urging for Eli to go faster. The older did, both with his hand and his hip motion, until neither of the could take it anymore and they both came with loud screams.

Eli dropped to the side, panting and sweaty. He felt Kevin’s hand into his own. He then looked at him with such uncertainty, he might have exploded any time.

‘Please tell me I didn’t do a mistake.’ He whispered. ‘Please tell me this won’t make things weird between us.’ The older voiced.

Kevin simply stared back, conscious that at the same time he was feeding Eli’s growing trepidation.

‘It won’t.’ He finally stated. ‘Just do it again.’

Eli looked at him. And he did.
