This got mentioned a bit in AsCast: Ana Likes Music. A lot. The episode hasn't gone live yet, so if I repeat myself, I do apologise. (Though, once you hear it, you will know how stuttery and repetitive I am when I haven't got a chance to edit my words. Oh god why did I say yes to that.)We always had music playing at home when I was a kid, and that' ( Read more... )

Oh look at that. Music. that's sound right? with singing? I love the water drum stuff. That is awesome. And I love that Paul Simon song. Now we just need to get the episode UP.

Yes, music! With singing. And instruments, sometimes. And then sometimes it's just instruments. Wild, huh?

yeah, I gave Edmund my fondness of drums. But he plays, I don't. (Rallies and protests with drum circles: awesome.)

This is eerie. Like you, I grew up in a house where there was music constantly and in many forms. Like you, I played violin until I was eighteen, and then had to decide between violin and singing, and chose singing. Like you, my musical tastes are everywhere, from big band jazz right up through the Beatles, Queen, and the Bryds, and out to Kristin Chenoweth and Julie Andrews, Idina Menzel and Shirley Jones. "Obvious Child" is one of my favorite Paul Simon songs. :)

I thought it was just boys who couldn't sing the same after puberty. NOPE. ME TOO. Argleblargh.

It's a shorter list of genres I generally dislike: thrash/death metal, misogynistic gangsta rap, easy listening, opera. Though, there are always exceptions.

I had a much better voice after puberty - for me, it was a time issue. I knew I wasn't going to have the time to do both violin and voice in college, and I was a good enough vocalist that I knew I could get into a college choir. I was not, on the other hand, a good enough violin player to get into a college orchestra. Not even close, and my heart was always with singing anyway. So I sang. :)

I love a good deal of opera, and even some easy listening (they classify people like Tony Bennett as easy listening, which seems like a crime when you consider what he's done for music), but I am with you on the death metal and gangsta rap. Not my music of choice, ever.
