Recycling lines

Oh, and can you think of any instances in either series where some cool line was recycled? I am thinking of the Spike I mean John Hart character in Torchwood saying, "Thirsty now," like Bad!Willow saying, "Bored now," though of course TW isn't a Whedon show. Firefly counts, though, or Dollhouse-- anything that connects to Whedon and uses a line ( Read more... )

In the promo to the unaired pilot of Dollhouse Echo repeats Spike's line from School Hard "Who do you want me to be?"

I suspect the TW creator is a Buffy/Angel fan... well, that's fine, as it brought us Spike I mean John Hart.

Supernatural 4.1 has a huge shoutout to BTVS 6.1. One of the protagonists, Dean, wakes up, returned to his coffin, and like Buffy, uses his knuckles to smash his way out, and for the rest of the episode has the bloody knuckles to prove it. It's not a line though, rather a set of visual references.

Russell Davies is a huge fan of Buffy and even mentioned it as a direct influence on the way the Doctor Who and Torchwood arcs are designed.
