*confused cackling* confused because I'm not sure whether this is heart breaking or ridiculously sweet because how can Sherlock still think he needs to go out of his way to keep John around?! And cackling because omfg Sherlock!!!!

Oh, dear one! If I had not already found my Sherlock Casebook in the mail today, this little gem would have cheered me up splendidly after a horrible day at work. As it is, you made me laugh at least as much ;)
Poor Sherlock, he always goes a bit over the top to make John happy.

Sherlock paced the floor in the waiting room. The doctor had been gone for almost thirty minutes now. How long could it possibly take to analyse those test results?
Dammit. Angst.

Ah, no angst! Good.

How was he supposed to keep John with him when he grew old and slow?
Dammit. Worse angst. You evil! I love insecure!Sherlock but only when John is there to reassure him. ANARION WHERE IS JOHN? It's a "hurt without comfort" tag you need, not a "hurt/comfort" one! :D

I can't write retiring fic. It makes me sad.
I like them. They make me feel that Sherlock and John have had a long and thrilling life together, and now they have many years left, but quieter and more peaceful ones. They don't need the thrill of London life any more to be happy, they just need each other. And now Sherlock isn't insecure any more about John's love. :-)
