Aww... it is sad, and thank you for the warning, but it's really sweet too - I like it. And I'm with Sherlock on preferring the coast to the beach - great description:

'the windy seaside, the storm-tossed sea, coming home half-frozen to a room warmed by a fire, climbing into bed with John.'

That's gorgeous.

This is where he goes to clear his head when he gets stuck on a particularly difficult problem, when he needs to unwind and when he needs to grieve.
Jesus wept. I...I do that, when there's a stormy day and I can make it to the beach. I go, and for the same reasons to think and cry and contemplate, process, put things in perspective. {sorry} that's too TMI, but that struck a chord so very deep that the "Lost Chord" might not be so lost after all. {sobs}

Because while John can grieve anywhere, Sherlock can't. He needs the wind and the harsh weather and the emptiness of the vast sea in front of him. So this is what John gives him, to process, to heal.
'So this is what John gives him'
'The most human, human being...'just ran through my head and and and.....
I've no words, nope, nu-uh, nada, nothing, No Useful Words to praise and thank you for this bittersweet treasure and new headcannon, this feels true, real and true.

*hugs*

Most of the things that I do or did or experienced end up in John in my fics, but this one seemed to be more fitting for Sherlock. So yeah, I do go to the beach to grieve.
