No work today. Have to scrub the house down real good. We rented a rug doctor from tops to do the carpet. On saturday our landlord came in and saw our dishes and a stain on the carpet and uh, evicted us. Like, really? Couldn't even tell us you were coming? First of all your lease probably says he has to give you AT LEAST 24 hours notice before he can come and "inspect" your property, considering that's a state law. Also, there is a legal process that he has to go through before he can LEGALLY evict you, which he obv hasn't done.

Check out this site for info about tenants rights in NYS. I am pretty sure even the monthly inspections are illegal.

Know your rights and stand up for them. Don't let this douche treat you like shit.

thanks very much!! we did know that he can't legally evict us yet, but are choosing to not address that with him because if we need to buy time we can be like hey, you haven't legally evicted us yet because there is a legal process you have to go through.

I am gonna look into the monthly inspections thing though cause that is total BS. Right now we're on a month to month lease though, so technically he can evict us for any reason he wants to, but still he has to go through the courts to do so.

Our apartment looks amazing right now, and would have looked that amazing if he had just given us some notice that he was coming!!! Total BS.
