...what. wow. umm. are you planning on making a permanent move there or something? or will it just be you xposting from lj to dw? what is this "i kind of know why." what is this "why"?
i'm not moving away from LJ; i'm just taking up more internet space. right now it's all crossposting--the future, who knows.
lol the why is 'i wanted one, and i'm a sitter, which means I will probably still be there in 4 years, when it starts being cost effective to have done this' and also 'it was shiny'.
I was seriously tempted this morning -seriously, seriously - all I had to do was click one button and I would have spent that $200, too.
But I pulled myself back from that edge. ;)
I suppose you could think of it as investing in a good cause? And if you need help thinking of fun FREE things to do, I'm sure I can shoot suggestions your way (put all these events emails I get to some use) - no locking yourself in your apartment for the next month!
NO! Do not give me new shiny things to look at! I might just follow you over the edge of the abyss and then where would I be? In the dark with no money. Yeah, that's right. You at least have a 'real' job. Bad Nikki! Tempting your friends like this. Boo!
But then I'd feel like I was using you for your money...maybe you want me to feel like that. Hmmm...maybe I could make a career of whoring myself out by providing commentary and amusement to richer friends... XD
that they don't plan to get any revenue from ads, and as such, they're not devoting any resources to capturing ad-related revenue. their subscription/invite method means they won't necessarily grow as big as fast, but it also means they won't grow beyond what their servers can handle. And i'll feel less like a second class citizen than i do on LJ, because the past year or so, I've really felt like because I'm not a company buying ad space, I matter less.
