So there was another 1 hour fic challenge, as advertised earlier. Go read these! crystallekil | iverin | jackoweskla | ky_rin | mousapelli | nicocoer | pastdazed | pearljemz | snoozing_kitten

Jin had been woken up by some idiot's- Yamapi's ridiculously early alarm clock beeping insistantly through the wall at 5:30 am. Jin had rolled over, pulling his pillow tightly over his head, but it was too late. The damage had been done. Jin tossed and turned for another hour and a half until 7, when he finally gave it up for a lost cause and got out of bed. He got ready in a kind of annoyingly short amount of time because he'd been awake for so long already and while he still needed coffee to be pleasant, he didn't need it to function. He was out the door running about fifteen minutes early, and he was never, ever, ever going to forgive Yamapi for that.

Jin wasn't the only KAT-TUN early to their 8 o'clock call. When he got to the small dressing room, Nakamaru was already inside, distractedly trying to pace around a table full of make-up and hairdryers, the couch, and two and a half chairs (management claimed they'd get a new chair soon, but then they'd been claiming that for the past year and a half, so no one was exactly holding their breath anymore). It wasn't working too well, but judging from the fierce frown settled over his features, Nakamaru's mind was elsewhere.

Make that really elswhere, because Nakamaru didn't even notice when Jin walked into the room until Jin's messenger bag went sailing past his head to land neatly on the couch. Then he dropped to the ground in surprise, hand clutching his chest as though trying to keep his heart from beating its way out. To his credit, he didn't scream like a girl like Jin would have, but that was probably because he was busy choking on air.

"Sorry, sorry," Jin apologized, laughing because, dammit, that was funny. "I thought you knew I was here, since you just turned around in front of me in the door."

Nakamaru yelped at Jin's voice and scrambled around on the floor to face Jin, looking surprised all over again. "Oh," Nakamaru said, voice just a smidge higher than usual. "I didn't realize." Like somehow it hadn't dawned on him that a bag materializing on the couch meant that someone else was there.

Nakamaru climbed to his feet, letting Jin squeeze past him to flop on the couch as he dusted himself off. There were things on that floor Nakamaru just didn't want to think about, pure and simple.

"What's this?" Jin asked suddenly from where he had his face smooshed into his bag and the couch cushion. Nakamaru looked down to find Jin's fingers just closing on a very familiar, now horribly crumpled piece of paper. That was definitely one of the things Nakamaru didn't want to think about. Unfortunately, he knew the contents very well (having written them himself). And it seemed that soon Jin would know too, Nakamaru watching helplessly as Jin pushed himself up on his elbows to unfold the paper and press it flat enough to reveal that the poor imitation of a paper ball was actually a white envelope. Jin popped the little red heart sticker off the back easily without so much as a by your leave, and pulling the (also white) paper inside out. Jin unfolded that too, and then stopped.

Jin looked up at Nakamaru and Nakamaru couldn't read the expression in his eyes. Oh god, this was bad. Jin was going to find out. Nakamaru wasn't ready. Oh god, what he was going do? "OH MY GOD, NAKAMARU. IS THIS A LOVE LETTER?" Jin shouted, disbelief and excitement and a kind of sheer evil glee warring for dominance.

Nakamaru blushed very red very quickly. It was even worse than he thought.

-

Jin spent the rest of the time until the rest of KAT-TUN arrived trying to grill Nakamaru about the letter. Who had given it to him? Was she pretty? Hell, boy or girl? For his part, Nakamaru pleaded desperately with Jin not to tell anyone (and if his voice was a little high and panicked, who could blame him?) while his face maintained its pretty cherry color.

Jin refused. He wasn't keeping any secrets unless he got some real information that needed to be kept a secret. Time slipped away towards eight and as Nakamaru could hear the building starting to fill up, he panicked. Panicked and caved.

"Ok! Ok, ok, Jin. I'll tell you something, but you have to promise, this is all a secret after that. All of it. You hear me? Otherwise you get nothing and I'll- I'll claim you made the whole thing up." It wasn't a very good threat, really, but it was the best Nakamaru could come up with. Anything else and he probably wouldn't be able to follow through anyway.

Jin thought a minute, but agreed readily enough. Better than curiosity eating him up all day, and he actually had a pretty easy time keeping his mouth shut.

"It's not to me," Nakamaru confesses. "I wrote it."

"What? To who-?" And at that moment, Koki walked in.

-

"-m do you think the next prime ministership should go?" Jin switched gears midsentence.

Nakamaru stared at him, mouth hanging open in pure shock, because really? Really? Did Jin think anyone was going to believe they were having that conversation? Some slow-firing neuron in Nakamaru's brain told him he was expected to reply somehow. In the context it didn't make any more sense than Jin's question, but it was a very insistent mental pathway, so Nakamaru tried. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), all he could come up with was "What"?

Koki yawned and threw his bag so it landed in the middle of Jin's back. Jin ooffed when the weight hit him. "Serves you right for taking the whole couch," Koki said, dropping into one of the whole chairs. "Jin's just messing with you," he said to Nakamaru.

"No one else was here yet!" Jin protested, shoving Koki's bag off onto the floor petulantly. Nakamaru smiled an awkward, grateful smile and he wasn't sure if he were more grateful that Koki had walked in or that Jin could keep his mouth shut.

-

"So," Jin hissed into Nakamaru's ear in the way to practice. Nakamaru's breath froze in his throat because Jin's mouth was really, really close to his ear. "Is it him?" Jin makes a vague gesture towards Koki's back.

Nakamaru sputters and wishes he had a better default reaction than that. Jin took that as a yes apparently, because he pushed off Nakamaru, reached forward to drag Koki back and draped his arm over Koki's shoulders. "So, Koki. Are you seeing anyone right now?"

Nakamaru wished the earth would swallow him up. Being crushed under rock and dirt would be so much easier than his life right now.

-
obviously unfinished, because Nakamaru's life isn't hard enough yet.
