Jin skirted around the bruise on his wrist, tracing the outside edges with a ginger finger. It was a nice purple color, smudged with black. New. He didn't know where it came from. It matched the one on his left hip, except that one was bigger and maybe a little more red than purple. Jin didn't know where that one came from either.
The ones on his legs and the one on his other arm were older, faded, a sickly green-yellow and barely sore to the touch. He didn't remember getting them. He just woke up one day and there they were. Just like he woke with the one on his hip yesterday, and this one this morning.
He pressed a little on his next circuit, trying to find the mismatches between the borders of the discoloration and the actual bruise. He always seemed to do that with new bruises, pressing on them to see how much they hurt and where. Somehow it was important. Knowing that the edges didn't always overlap.
