I issued this challenge to myself and
kooriyoukai (at her prompting) while we were both at work, but due to unavoidable interruptions, what started as a 45 minute challenge, ended up being more like a spread out two hour challenge (or maybe more for hers??) XD

Wednesday, July 6th
Nagayan stared at the bench in front of him, and wondered if he should sit down, or stay standing as he had been for the past twenty minutes. He looked at his watch. He was sure that Tuti had said Wednesday, and he was sure he had said here, on this bench, in front of this fountain, in this park, and he was especially sure he had said 1:00, because, well, 1:00-2:00 was his lunch break, and so if Tuti wanted to meet him for lunch like they had planned it had to be at 1:00.
Nagayan sighed, and pouted a little. He had been looking forward to this, and now he wondered if he wasn’t going to miss out on seeing Tuti again. Like he had almost every afternoon for the past few weeks. He hated this schedule, and he hated Tuti’s schedule even more because it meant that his evenings were taken up with *pnish* shows, and *pnish* rehearsals. They tried to meet for lunch at least once a week, but even that had become hard to coordinate lately.
Nagayan stared at his phone, wondering why Tuti hadn’t at least called to say he would be late. He was probably stuck on the train or something, Nagayan was thinking, almost laughing to himself at his little joke. Tuti was constantly using that excuse, though Nagayan was sure most of the time it was because he had miscalculated on either time or distance or both, because, well, everyone knows that Tokyo trains run like clockwork.
Nagayan looked at his phone, again. 1:25. They would barely have time to get any food now, even if Tuti did manage to show up.
It didn’t help either that Wednesday was Nagayan’s absolute least favorite day of the week. Wednesdays meant extra long hours for him at the studio, and *pnish* rehearsals until ungodly hours of the night for Tuti, in preparation for the weekend’s shows, and just in general did not make Nagayan very happy. He grumbled to himself that Tuti should have known better than to stand him up today. He was tired. And hungry. It was cloudy, and there was a chill in the air. Not at all a nice day to be sitting in a park, alone, waiting for Tuti. If he had stayed at the studio instead of stupidly coming out here to meet stupid, late Tuti, he would have at least managed to get some food by now. 1:35.
Ok, Tuti was getting dangerously close to receiving another pissed off message from him on his phone, Nagayan was thinking, but he tried to refrain from resorting to this. Five more minutes, he told himself. Tuti had five more minutes, but if he didn’t at least call in those five minutes, then Nagayan was going to be really mad. He threw himself down on the bench, kicking at the patch of dirt at his feet, and cursing Tuti silently.
After three minutes his phone rang, and at first Nagayan felt relief flood over him as he saw Tuti’s name on the phone’s display, but this relief turned quickly to anger as he reminded himself that it was 1:46 and Tuti was not here, and therefore he was not going to see Tuti for lunch, or even get to eat lunch for that matter. His stomach grumbled, strengthening his resolve to stay angry, as he hit the green button on his phone. He couldn’t bring himself to say anything though, and he listened to Tuti’s confused voice through the phone.
“Takashi? Are you there?" There was a pause, and he heard Tuti sigh. "Where are you?”
“Where am I? Where are you? You made me miss lunch, Tuti! And I was really hungry!” Nagayan pouted, wishing Tuti could see the look on his face to see how unhappy he was with him right now.
“I know, I know, I’m really sorry. You’ll never believe what happened-”
Tuti sounded sincere, but Nagayan really wasn’t in the mood to hear excuses right now. “Shut up, Tuti! I don’t care what happened. I’ve been waiting here for forever, and now it’s time to go back to work. I have to go.”
“Come on, Takashi, at least let me explain.”
“No. I don’t feel like it.”
“Then just wait for me. I’ll be there in two minutes!"
“I have to be back in less than ten minutes. I can’t be late.”
“Just wait till I get there ok?”
Nagayan grumbled, but didn’t hang up the phone. “You better have brought me something good, Tuti.” He was aware that he sounded like a spoiled child, but… it was true. Tuti was making him wait, so that must mean he had something. And it sure as hell better be something good, Nagayan thought again.
“Mou, Tuti… I don’t see you! I’m going to be late…” Nagayan whined into the phone, but knew Tuti was close when he heard his response in stereo.
“I’m right here, baka, turn around!”
Tuti was indeed there and he had a decidedly mischievous look on his face. Nagayan glanced suspiciously at Tuti, who was hiding his hands behind his back, as if he had something huge and embarrassing hidden there.
“Well, thanks for deciding to show up!” Nagayan looked at his watch. “Not quite an hour late, but pretty damn close...” He glowered at Tuti, but never took his eyes off him, shifting his weight around on his feet nonchalantly, as he tried to catch a glimpse of what Tuti was hiding behind his back. “This better not be something embarrassing, because I swear I’ll…”
But Nagayan’s words trailed off as he noticed the ridiculous grin spreading on Tuti’s face.
“For you.” Tuti proclaimed without warning.
Nagayan stared at Tuti, his eyes wide, as he hurridly snatched the huge bouquet of bright pink flowers from Tuti’s hands, trying to ignore the several heads that were turning at the scene that was unfolding.
“Are you crazy?” Nagayan hissed. “You brought me flowers? And you expect me to bring these back to the studio with me? Are you crazy?”
Tuti was grinning. “Oh come on, I told you the last time we passed that shop that these ones especially made me think of you. And I was in a hurry already, and I knew I had to have something for you at least.”
Nagayan was still glowering a little, but a faint smile graced his lips. Tuti was so weird. The flowers were really nice though, Nagayan found himself thinking despite himself. But…how was he going to explain this to his fellow cast members? Nagayan sighed, and looked at Tuti helplessly.
“And you can always just tell them that one of the fangirls from your little club gave them to you if you’re that embarrassed.”
Nagayan rolled his eyes. “Girls don’t give boys flowers, Tuti.”
“They might?”
“They wouldn’t. Because it’s weird. Like you.”
But Nagayan was smiling now, at the amused look on Tuti’s face. He hated how he just couldn’t stay mad at Tuti. He realized that he should at least make sure Tuti had a good, sound reason for not showing up on time though, before he forgave him completely, but suddenly there was something else on his mind.
Well, he was going to be late already, what was another minute or two?
Nagayan’s eyes turned dark as he set his mind on Tuti’s lips, and on closing the distance between them as quickly as possible. There were people around, and some were already watching the pair, but it didn’t matter. Nagayan kissed Tuti, deeply and hungrily, but pulled away just as he felt himself melting a little into his arms.
“Thanks,” he whispered breathlessly, “I think I forgive you now.”
