And yeah, I'm sort of still trying to figure out how I see them in terms of my personal head canon, and I seem to have slipped into this PG/gen version for the time being, even though I very much enjoy the more explicit stuff too. ;) But sometimes I worry that they feel too PG, so... I'm really glad to hear that my version works for you. ♥

I love the realness here, the injury and pain and Dean wanting to be brave but terrified of everything going on underneath.

The flashback of them younger and their time in the snow, so very sweet and child-like happiness, made me smile.

This is just the perfect Winchester vacation. Even though Sam had to drag Dean kicking and screaming along the way. Dean never seems to be able to let himself be weak. I loved Sam just taking charge and doing what he knew was best. That Dean had to be laid up with an injury to rest for just a day speaks volumes about their lives.

It's pretty much the only kind of vacation Dean will ever take, I think! But yeah, I think Dean, especially when his mindset is so much on saving Sam, and being scared that maybe he can't do that...weakness is just not an option. Not unless it's completely forced on him. ;)
