The British version of Being Human is soooo much better than the US version. The one here tries too hard, I think. Also, the characters/actors don't connect with each other the same way that they do on the Brit version. My son was hooked on the show while we spent the month in Las Vegas and I swear, I think I caught the entire first two series because of him! He loves it. Sometimes, my boy weirds me out! I wouldn't have thought there was anything on that show that would appeal to a 11/12yrd old, but I was wrong.

And the Doctor Who epp - fantastic! Still not saying a whole lot, as I know a bunch of people Down Under haven't seen it. Aus is a week behind us and NZ is just about to start the new series, so they'll be at least four weeks behind. But yeah, it was brilliantly done.

Enjoy your weekend. :D

I haven't seen the US version--in fact, I find it really sort of bizarre that there IS a US version? XD;; From what I've heard it's really similar to the BBC version, and it's just a little perplexing to me that there are 2 shows with the same name, running at the same time, in the same language, you know? O_o

But anyway. :D I think it's awesome that your son likes it! I'm sure he gets his good taste from you? ^_~

Did you watch the Confidential too? I love Neil Gaiman, and it was really neat because Confidential had him going around reading parts from the script-so cool. *__*

Thank you~ Same to you! ♥

There are two versions of Being Human because a lot of American viewers can't understand the accent or the subtle humour of British TV. I know that makes me sound awfully cynical, but it's true. Even classic shows like Three's Company were remakes of great British shows. I remember watching the originals first in NZ and then getting the US versions. Makes for an interesting dichotomy in viewing habits. We (fans of Brit shows) have no issue with great British TV, as we've gotten used to the accent. Even my hubs, who hears me every day, sometimes has problems with the Brit accent and asks me to translate. He gets annoyed when I pull out old terms that I haven't heard or used in years, as well. As if living here, I'm supposed to drop that English and Kiwi part of my heritage and stop being ME.

I can't remember if I saw the Confidential. We missed the first showing of the epp, and caught it at midnight. There were snippets played during the actual show, but I think I went to bed immediately after. Silly me.

*nods* Yeah, I guess this time it just seemed especially odd to me because they're both airing at the same time, essentially? The first time I searched for the show online I was really confused because the US/Brit characters look so similar, and the logos for the show are essentially the same, and all of that, even the websites? I had to do a HUGE double take, and then realized that there were two versions, lol.

And actually, I miss things sometimes because of the accent too? XD; So I definitely get the logic with why they'd do it. It's just confusing. Like a weird parallel universe show or something, lol.

Ooh, you should watch the confidential if it comes on again! There were some really nice insights into the writing, especially. XD

It's out. =p
Horrible's rip of the simulcast usually gets out pretty quickly. (Usually more on Saturday, though, but I checked.)

The only thing I can't understand is why they can't get Ao no Exorcist out before [gg]. Mystery... =p [/is being silly]

I knew you would know that, lol. YAY. <3

How is Ao no Exorcist, btw? Worth picking up? *trusts you* =D

Haha. I guess it's the thing I keep up with. I really like Ao no Exorcist. It's my 3rd favorite thing this season (after Hanasaku Iroha, and Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi).

The first two eps are boring, but after the main character starts going to Exorcist school, it starts to get a lot more interesting. A 2 ep exposition really isn't that bad... considering most shounen series. It's very Harry Potter-esque to me. *nodnod*

I think I've been enjoying shounen series running in Shounen SQ (the monthly anthology) more than Shounen Jump. Maybe this means I'm growing up? XD;;;

Jeremy and I are still watching Hanasaku Iroha--it's so cute. <3

And I may give Ao no Exorcist a try. We need more things to watch! We're finally going to start Star Driver this weekend, btw. (Which means that we finished Letter Bee~ YAY. ^_~)

Thanks for reminding me to watch Doctor Who Confidential! x I was too busy with the whole job/move thing and totally forgot about it but I just watched it and it was amazing. I LOVED how Neil Gaiman read out the story while standing in the TARDIS. This was the most awesome episode so far, I wish there would be more steampunk elements in Doctor Who =)

Also I need to check out that anime series. You've mentioned it before to me, when I was still bored and needed something new to watch. I'll see if I can find some good seeds somewhere on the internet.

Have fun camping, I will mostly be listing my possessions, giving clothes to charity and eating strawberries XD *hugs*

Yay! I'm glad I reminded you to watch it. :D I just watched it yesterday, and I really thought it was one of the best I've seen. Neil Gaiman is so cool. =D

Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi is up on Tokyo Toshokan. I'm sure there are a billion seeds. <333

*laughs* Strawberries? Are they in season over there or something? *hugs back*

He is indeed very cool and I didn't know him before although I've watched Coraline (which I really enjoyed). I like his style and I guess now I just HAVE to buy one of his books.

I found some good seeds for Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi on baka updates, am downloading episodes 1-3 now, I'll let you know how I like it ;-)

The strawberry season has just started here and I absolutely LOVE strawberries, they always remind me of my birthday which is only 3 weeks away now. The main reason why I'll be eating them is because my flatmate and his girlfriend are going to a farm where they can pick them themselves and knowing them they will bring back far too many so we'll have a strawberry-fest this weekend *laughs*

Oh you should definitely read some of his stuff! I recommend Neverwhere. <3 And Coraline, because while I really liked what they did with the movie, I think the book is even better. :D

Yay! I really hope you like it~ Let me know! :D (Which reminds me that I need to listen to that audio book you sent me! *_*)

Ah, your birthday IS approaching, isn't it! :D Anyway, enjoy the weekend! I hope it's been stress free so far!

Glad work and Japanese are going well. Hope you guys got to go camping this weekend. My mother has actually been in your neck of the woods this past week and she tells me the weather has been great. I didn't find out that she was going to CA with a quick stop off in SF until 1-2 days before her flight and if I had known sooner I should have made her take me with her! (<3 I miss you...)

I saw the 10 min teaser/OVA of Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi and while I felt a lot of the HS flashbacks were a bit dramatic (and racy), it looks like a pretty good BL series. Now that I am free...perhaps I will catch up on it as well. :)

...I hope we get to go too. We're being a little slow in getting ready today, lol. But I think we should still be able to make it. It's sort of crazy, because I guess because we're so far west, it gets dark SUPER late here. Like, around 8:30 pm? >_> So we *should* still be able to go. ;)

And wow, what's your mom doing out here? Something for work? You totally should have stowed away. ^_~

I totally know what you mean about the flashbacks. ;) The actual episodes never really go back to the HS stuff after the initial flashback though, and... Yeah, the actual show is much lighter and not overly-dramatic like that at all. So yeah~ Don't let that turn you off. :D

Sekai ichi Hatsukoi is LOVE. It's so cute, I just wish it didn't have the OVA prologue, bc it wasn't as interesting (and is totally not what the series is about...) Ah well. I still have to d/l a few more recent eps.

*nods* Yeah, i think that OVA sort of distracts from what the actual show is about too... I think the only episodes have only been getting better though, so... Yay. It's so nice to have a BL show to be excited about again! :D
