OMG This is SO How I'm Feeling About Google!

After my recent experiences with YouTube, where anything I try to do results in my getting a choice between one thing and another and oh by the way, you must agree to the following terms of use for Google+, which I totally do NOT want to sign up for! Oh and they keep fucking asking me if I want to use my real name -- UGH! I have a YouTube account ( Read more... )

I've never been all that warmly disposed towards Google. I think I was one of the last people to switch from Alta Vista (didn't like the lack of a boolean search field on Google), hated it when they started deciding they knew better than I did what I really meant when I typed in my search terms. Don't like what they've done with YouTube since they acquired it. And yeah, this whole Google+ thing is really annoying.

I am seriously considering giving up GMail because of all of this. And I'm a person who never uses an alias.

What really pisses me off is most sites that don't use Disquis will not allow you to comment unless you have a facebook account. I always find a way to jam the web master for not having other options than the FB plugin.

Besides that YouTube has that shit going on "don't upload this", "delete that".
If YouTube wasn't meant to share everything you want and commit copyright violations, what is it meant for then?
What does it live of?
(I know the copyright violations are not a problem of YouTube, it's a problem of international law of major countries. But, each and everyone does afford itself lobbyists all around the world to achieve his goals, so why don't try to break a lance at this issue?)

You're preaching to an intellectual property rights advocate here, sorry! I do think some copyright extends way too long these days -- well past supporting the artist's children, and just serving to make corporations rich -- but I believe in strong copyright laws.

Well, that's what I can think of, besides Google's data ambitions.
That's the reason why I would never became an uploader, although I had stuff that others could maybe long for.
My mind to this "you're not allowed to do this, rules here, rules there, rules everywhere"-business is beyond 0 K.
And I've seen sites which seem to care less - or I don't know how they solve it (legal sites).

Apparently a lot of the YouTube copyright-violation enforcement is because they can somehow justify putting ads in front of things if they get permission from the copyright holder to keep up the videos you and I put up. I post videos on YouTube in a couple of places, but only stuff that's out of copyright or for which I have permission from the composer/writer.
