I read this in rosefox's journal. It's a quote by Truman Capote, and mostly has to do with criticisms of his writing, but I think it's also applicable to any form of criticism that any of us face...

I tried to watch "The Office" once, just couldn't get it. I did find it somewhat painful to watch.

A lot of people really like it, and apparently it has received a lot of critical acclaim. But to me, it was just too real--and way too real about the things I don't like about work.

Why in the world would I subject myself to more cubicle horrors in the comfort of my own home???

I felt the same way about The West Wing. Matt loved it. A show with lots of office infighting and coverups. No thanks.

Like our lives are so impoverished of such things that we need more of it coming in through the tube to make our lives complete.
