"Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can.
- Danny Kaye"

Some things have to change.

We are in that process.

The extent of the change will be in direct correlation to my own level of need for change...plus, if history is any indicator, two or three points beyond what change I think I can bear. Because when it ( Read more... )

Ah! I used to be like that. For years I wanted to be a nurse - even took extra courses in high school to prepare myself for it. After a year and a half of it in college I changed my major to Psychology and found myself in the very uncomfortable position of not knowing exactly what it was I wanted to do anymore.

Now I have IDEAS and PLANS, but I know it could all change without a moment's notice. That's still uncomfortable for me, I know things may not work out the way I want them to, but I'm pretty okay with it.

Bethany: Having beliefs isn't good?

Rufus: I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant.

Rufus: Are you saying you believe?

Bethany: No. But I have a good idea.

Besides having a crush on Linda Fiorentino, I think Dogma is one of the best movies of all time... give or take a few. ;-)

I love that movie and I've owned it for years. I loved it even when I was still a Christian, because so many of the IDEAS of Christianity expressed in that movie are true.

Now I gotta go watch it again...
