I'm trying to remind myself that I'm going to have good days and not-so-good days, and that I can forgive myself for laziness on my not-so-good days if I get up and do when I have a good day. But slowly, slowly, it's all coming around.
WhooHooo!! Being able to actually get up and do something after major surgery is a major milestone. Go YOU!
Just make sure that you don't overdo it and keep taking whatever pain meds that the docs prescribe. Truuuuuuuust me. Remember even when you have experience with surgeries (seven knee surgeries so far + other exciting adventures) it's easy to think "Oh I can do that" and overextend yourself.
Heck! I do that all the time with my fibro & chronic pain!! ::grin:: Definitely baby steps but remember, you've got one hell of a cheering squad standing behind you!! WhooooooHOOOOOOO!! Go anahata56!! Two four six eight, Who do we appreciate? LadyBelle! LadyBelle! LadyBelle! Yaaaaaaaay!
(okay, that's all you get until you work some more on recovery woman! HUGS!!)
I've been able to manage pain with Advil for a good bit now, which is good because the Vicodin and Percocet have some problematic side effects that just seem to complicate things further. The thing that was scaring me was not so much the pain (which I frankly expected), but the weak-and-shakys, which went on for an interminably long time. And while I still have my weak-and-shaky moments, they are amazingly fewer and fewer. It will be nice to be reliably strong again.
Ah. Finding the right meds can be... interesting. Some day there will be a machine which will take a genetic sample and be able to tell which meds for which folx but until then... ::sigh:: trial and error prevail.
The weak-and-shakys can take a lot longer than you expect to get over. Slow and steady wins the race!! Just remember to sit/lay down for a bit when they come up and you should be okay.
Hey, HUGS are a Good Thing™ in my opinion! I prescribe a bazillion a day! ::grin::
