Our friend meglimir passed away last night at about 8:30.

Please remember her by participating in the Meglis Project if you can. And if you cannot, please send your good thoughts to her husband sammyd and her two sons, who, no doubt, are having a very hard time right now

I'm so sorry to hear this. I didn't know any of them, just heard secondhand via LJ friends like you, but my heart goes out to them. Losing a loved one is hard enough at any time, but having it happen when nearly everyone around you is in the midst of happy celebrations just makes it exponentially worse. :(

She commented here from time to time, but the thing for which I am most grateful to her is that she was absolutely faithful to Paul this summer when he was undergoing his own cancer treatment. Even when she wasn't doing well herself, she rejoiced with him in every triumph, and empathized with every moment of fear and hurt. She always set herself aside to be of support to him, and I am most sincerely thankful to her for that. It meant so much.

When someone is good to me (and she was), I am most grateful. When someone is good to him? They earn my undying love.

And yes--it's dreadful that this is happening now, of all times, and I know that her family will never view this holiday the same way, ever again, and for that, I hurt.

I wish there was something I could do, but nothing seems like enough.
