There were always some foods I always wondered what prompted anyone to eat, and lobster is high on that list. I can't really see anyone "Hey, look at that menacing looking creature! Let's catch it, boil it and eat it with clarified butter."
If ya think about it though, people eat fried tarantulas and snakes and all kinds of icky things. I guess it's all about what's available and what doesn't kill you when you eat it. :)
My aunt's brother (aunt by marriage) is a lobster fisherman in Prince Edward Island. I will always remember the day we went to the wharf and asked for some lobster and he filled... FILLED, I say, a garbage bag full of the suckers, which we promptly took back to my aunt's house and cooked in a huge double boiler. We ate lobster for HOURS! (And had lobster sandwiches for days!)

"Can I touch it?" 'Sure!' "NO!"
I hope he enjoyed his lobster dinner.

But anything can be improved upon with the addition of butter, so that leap doesn't surprise me nearly as much!

I would love to have the opportunity to actually eat lobster until I was tired of eating lobster--that's one of the "to do before I die" list.
