On a ridiculous note, is Lee's hair getting bigger with each episode? I swear it is. Perhaps this is how he's handling his current angst - growing out his hair as an expression of uncertainty, depression, and anxiety.

I do think this episode dragged on also. I like the idea of flashbacks to their previous lives but as you said, I think it should've been done earlier. I'm not sure how the finale will shape up, but here's hoping it'll be well done.
I missed the part where they said something like "however many years ago on Caprica" and honestly thought we were having some sort of weird AU episode, like the end of SGA.
I agree! I also thought (since the first flashback lasted 15 minutes) that was all we were going to get for the episodes - flashbacks. And I was really annoyed! But then I was less annoyed when we got some 'shit that's actually happening now' action.
UH WRITERS? AT THIS POINT WE SHOULD BE BEYOND BACKGROUND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. I HOPE YOUR CHARACTERS ARE DEVELOPED BY NOW. OK? OK. B/C NOW YOU ONLY HAVE ~90 MINUTES~ OR SO IN WHICH TO WRAP UP EVERY SINGLE LOOSE END, WHICH, UM. LET'S JUST SAY I'M NOT HOLDING MY BREATH.
I honestly didn't care about a lot of that 'character development' background either. Whoop, Baltar's dad was an ass. Who cares? Oh, and Lee sometimes got stupidly drunk? Whatever.
I loved the flashbacks from a visual point of view - so much light instead of the internal darkness and grittiness on board Galactica! - but yeah, story-wise they were kind of a drag.
Helo and Athena make me go all heart-clenchy. I want them to have a happy-ish ending so, so badly.
I agree that the flashbacks were nicely filmed - it was also interesting to see some people smiling, since this show has basically become the Show of No Smiles, Ever (just like The Sarah Connor Chronicles - man, would it kill someone to crack a smile just once?).
(just like The Sarah Connor Chronicles - man, would it kill someone to crack a smile just once?). No! The lack of smiling is the only thing keeping Skynet from existing. :|

I really don't understand the timing at all! Sometimes I wonder if the writers are just drunk.

How the hell are they going to wrap up all the storylines? I want to know about the Cylon God, Head!Six, all of this will happen again and again.

I have no idea. I have this sneaking suspicion that a lot of it isn't going to be addressed in any way, which I think will be sloppy.
