Writers (as in Sir Walter). I actually grew up with Pyle's Robin Hood, which is probably why I was never much into the legend.

HAHAHA I know. Whatever, he so did it during his crazy days. And now I want to read fic where Edward tries to be a hardcore vampire and fails entirely.

I've been meaning to read Phantom but I forgot about it and now it's not really important. Then again when I read Leroux's original I cried because I'm weird this way. I really really like McKinley but she is rather mild after all.

Though I do have a hard time believing a man so unbound by society could have gotten to the age of 50 as a virgin. This reminds me of the Earthsea books, heeh.

Leroux made me cry too : /

I love McKinley, which is part of why I was so disappointed with OoS--I know she can write so much better.

Ugh, really? I've read the first two books in the trilogy and I think I'm mostly going to read the third because I feel like I ought to.

Well don't read the rest. There were good but not anything to get excited about. It's just the particular information about Eric that reminded me of Ged.

I felt like Phantom survived an adult reading better than all of my other middle school favorites. Kay's ellipses are a quirk, but the story is still good and Erik's still a very complex character.

I was surprised at how well her characterization of Erik held up, happily so.
now I ought to go read Anne Rice again ; )
