+ There is a Pillars of the Earth miniseries starting in 10 days! The book was so dreadfully written I couldn't make it through, but since it's about the people & politics involved in building a cathedral in medieval England I'll definitely give the show a try. I know a lot of people who liked the book, so maybe the story is good? Am v. curious ( Read more... )

Oh, Pillars. Oh dear. Maybe it will make a decent miniseries, even though the characters are cardboard. (It made a seriously good board game, oddly.)

I guess most of the stuff was quite new if they have just arrived to build a cathedral. But it probably didn't wear so well.

Avignon is beautiful. I decided France tended towards the boring but I keep finding out about interesting bits, so I will have to expedite to there again at some point. The Tour de France has been going through some marvellous places.

I mean, it's not as if they could make it much worse, at least from what I read . . .

I like the random little bits. When abroad, I tend to go to little towns and just wander around, which I find keeps me pretty entertained. Plus I like the architecture in France a lot (as opposed to, say, Denmark or Germany), so I have fun just looking at stuff. I'm kind of a whore for visual prettiness : )

had a discussion recently about how mediocre books make better film adaptations, sooooo maybe it will be vaguely interesting?

hahaha I actually found it in the fandom_wank comments about an anime wank (about otaku and linguistic appropriation, lololol)

btw I have a Thing to send you, should it go to your parental address or would you prefer I send it elsewhere?

The little door is awesome!

I was in Avignon (for one day) some years ago but don't remember it too well ... thanks for the lovely picture!
