Title: Squire Characters: Much, Robin Spoilers: none Word Count: 230 Rating: G Warnings: none A/N: I started this for the LIMS challenge but then realized I couldn't do what I wanted in 100 words.
But then Robin grins, full of plans and life and hope.
That line really struck me, because I can just imagine Robin like that before the war, so idealistic, and then we he returns he's still full of plans and life and yet. . . maybe it's the hope but it's changed when he returns.
I love that Much, really the wiser one, is looking at Locksley instead and already knowing what Robin's going to discover.

What a great way to put it.
It would be really interesting to see what Robin would have been like if all the outlaw-stuff hadn't happened because even though he's cocky, I agree, the war must have deeply changed him.
Oh, Much. He knows his idealistic Robin so well. I like this--I get a very Frodo/Sam vibe from it, which would I guess make sense. :) I like how you make it clear they are very close, but also make it obvious that closeness has also led to some assumptions on both of their parts....Even then, Robin took Much for granted.
Ooh, I never thought of Frodo & Sam, but I think that fits. In any case, I wouldn't be surprised if Tolkien took some things from medieval pairs like Roland & Oliver (being a medievalist writing an epic : ) )

I also like the idea that Robin is inspired by a sermon.
