RANT!
There is an irritating, electronic beeping. And it's coming from inside the house. I have no idea where it's coming from, but it is annoying me and keeping me from restful slumber and HANNAH WANT SMASH. Bah! It's driving me crazy! I've no idea where it's coming from - or what's even making the noise - so I can't stop it! And I want to ( Read more... )

You might check your smoke alarms. When the batteries get too low on power, they emit a very annoying and irritating beep.

Oh, thank you! I didn't even think of that. Whatever it is, it's stopped - so I suppose the batteries finally died. Heh.

So I'm guessing you're going to be changing them, then? Safety first, ya know!

:D

Definitely gotta change 'em. Heh. With my luck, the moment I don't is the moment I need the alarm.

Oh, your icon's adorable! Made me smile. :)

Hee. Thank you! ^_^ That's my favorite bit, too.

I can just totally picture Jayne being all stern and paternal - heh. Obviously Mike and River are really close, but I bet Jayne would be all papa-feathers and proud about his genius, sharp-shooting son. I'm having such fun creating their little family. Hee hee hee.

Okay, this reminds me of myself so much, I'm lol. I hear every freaking little thing and it drives my nuts. Here is my two cents on your situation:

1) if you have recessed lighting (can lights) in your ceiling, they can make a high pitched, intermittent, undulating noise that could sound like very faint and high pitched beeping (at least ours do.)

2) If you have a refrigerator near you, they can make weird noises as well with their fan and freon pump.

3) if you have an attic fan, sometimes it will go on if it's set on a thermostat and you may hear it undulating as well. (a swimming pool pump will do this as well and if it's against the side of your house you may be hearing it.)

These are normally the culprits for me. But my apple laptop also makes weird noises every now and then.

I hope it goes away or you can find what it is as you're right, that shit is enough to drive you nuts. I'm going to go read your snippets now and hope you can relax. :)Ali

I know, those little noises are so annoying! Especially when it's night and the rest of the house is silent. I think it was either the smoke alarms running out of batteries or a cell phone that needed to be charged.

Think it's taken care of now, though. Hopefully.

Thanks for the two cents, though. I'll have to check those next time I hear any weird noise. My laptop makes odd noises, too. Not bad, but I also get really paranoid and get afraid it's going to... blow up or something. I know that's very silly. Hee.

Hee. I'm so used to all the noises in and around my apartment I don't even react anymore. My cat is always doing something and my neighbors are so loud that I had to drown it all out or go even more completely psycho.

I loved the little snippets. I've read the first chapter of String Theory over at Fanfiction.net, it's pretty awesome. Can't wait to read more. ♥

Normally I'm pretty good at ignoring, but I'm one of those crazy-sensitive people when it comes to sleep. Love the silence. Heh.

Ooh, glad you liked! ^_^ The story's one I've sort of been playing with for awhile, so I'm glad it's finally starting to materialize into more than just an idea. Heh.

Ah. My sister is like, a clock ticking downstairs can keep her awake for hours-me, I just put headphones and drown it out. ♥

Me too, it's pretty interesting. (Also I love time travel too. Hee.)

Heh - I think it was a cell phone that had low batteries. Ugh, it was so annoying... Heh.
