They've been trying to secede since my forefathers crawled out of West Texas. My family is from Fort Davis, originally (psst, look it up to see what I mean).

You don't want another North Korea or Iran on your hands, don't you? Don't TX have a lot of military contracts? I think they do. Better to keep them in the Union so they won't fall into an abyss.
